Yeah, flyboy seems to be "on one" again

flyboy, why don't you respond to the actual relevant part which is "then returned it to Amazon the next working day (instead of after 3 working days as stated on the tracking data)."

    Try reading the thread.

And arguing over perfectly valid points, just for the sake of arguing, does you no favours either. But I've given you the benefit of the doubt. You do seem to know a lot about the way this company works though, maybe you should declare your interest? Apologies if I missed it earlier in the thread.

Anyway, I think companies like Hermes should conduct their business in a decent way, whatever their "contractual obligation". This includes (a) giving accurate, non-conflicting information, (b) not treating people who make enquiries like dirt, and (c) being open to receiving comments and complaints from people they deal with.

As someone who has dealt with Hermes recently I felt that, as a warning to others, that I should report that in my experience they failed in these three aspects of their service.

I've done that now so I'll shut up.

Yay! We're back to the pointless non-replies again!
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

They have conducted their business in the way they have been contracted to do. Just because someone wants them to do it differently cannot give them absolution in breaching their contract with their customers. Your only recourse is through your own supplier, as your contract is with them, they are the ones to whom you should direct any complaints to. Simply by telling Hermes they are crap, is pointless and is unlikely to change anything. However, if you were to let their customer know of your dissatisfaction, it will do more than you moaning to Hermes. If Amazon get enough complaints regarding their carriers, they wil be in a position to change Hermes's behaviour. However, your one single complaint to Hermes won't make the slightest bit of difference to them. If the courier you spoke to gets, say, ten complaints against him, that will affect his targets and his alone. Hermes will carry on, thinking they have dealt with the sure and Amazon be will be unaware of the need to change.

One of the benefits of using couriers such as Hermes is that it cost little for the supplier to administer. That saving is then passed on to you. If Amazon wanted Hermes to manage their distribution, they would charge more. If you want a more complexed service, you wil have to be prepared to pay more for your goods.

It is not my fault you are too lazy to read a thread, is it.

  • Can someone shed some light on how long it should take for a parcel scanned in at Sheffield Depot yesterday afternoon to reach the Dunstable Depot?

    Thanks

I would imagine twenty-four hours, then it should be delivered to you tomorrow.

  • Thanks for the relpy.

    I live in east Essex.
'If' it takes 24 hours for a parcel to get from Hermes Sheffield to Hermes Dunstable (a short-ish drive down the M1 for a trucker.....I drive trucks long distance) I'd be pleasantly surprised for it to get to me by tomorrow?

Have you or are you connected to Hermes?

Last year, I helped a friend out whilst he was on holiday and gained a working knowledge of their practices. The item will be collected from the supplier, returned to the local depot and then transferred to the receiving depot. The following morning it is then distributed to the local couriers and delivered to the end user. All in all it should take two days at the most. If it caught the right trucks at the right time, there is a chance it will be deliver the next day.

Who is the seller and when was it ordered?

  • Its a private sale via the bay of evil. The agent/courier collected the parcel just after midday on Monday. I have managed to find out that the parcel was scanned in to Sheffield yesterday around 2pm. But no change that I can find out at the moment. I'm back on the road Friday night. It would be nice to have the package before then.

Thanks for the info and insight.
