I ordered a dress from Dorothy Perkins as I am going to my dad's wedding this weekend. I only ordered online as they had no stock in my nearest store. So I ordered it and paid for nominated day delivery and chose today (as I am going away tomorrow), I was quite annoyed when I discovered that it was with Hermes, as I have read lots of bad reviews about them. I tried to track my order and was told that it was "Missing Pre-Advice". I phoned Hermes, they told me to phone Dorothy Perkins, so I did, and they have told me that the courier (being Hermes) has lost around 1000 orders over the weekend. I have no way of knowing if and when I will be getting my dress, but as I'm going away tomorrow, it looks as though I will have to buy 2 dresses for the wedding, the one I have already paid for which has been 'lost', and a new one. How brilliant! I will now request that every parcel I order is delivered by HDNL, some people think they are a bad courier, but in my area they are very good, and always on time! Stay away from Hermes!!

They actually told you that? I find that hard to believe that a store would let the public in on that information, sounds like they are blaming someone else for their own mistake.

That said, as cutardy alluded to, it doesn't take much to misdirect one consignment. It doesn't mean it is "lost," just that it will arrive a day late, if that is the real reason why your order has been delayed. ;)

You will not have to pay for the "lost" dress, you can send it back and you won't be charged for it.

  • Hermes have now sent me this email:

    Dear XXX XXXXX

    Good Afternoon

As per your enquiry I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the way the courier delivered your parcel, I have contacted the courier and they had advise me that the parcel was actually delivered to an incorrect address and not your address.
I would like to advise you that if you contact the shipper of the goods as we hold the contract with them and we have sent a claim form out to them.

Again I would like to apologise and advise you that I have contacted the courier’s manager and an internal investigation will happen and the courier has been made aware of delivery items correctly.

    Regards

  • I know there may be a few sceptics who question the people who have onepost only and it's positive, but I only signed up so I could respond to this thread.

I ordered items from Play the other day and at 7.40pm last night the parcel arrived with Hermes, I signed for it at 9.17am this morning. Had been reading through these as the doorbell rang bizarelly enough. Just came across the thread whilst looking for their site to check my tracking info. As soon as I see these thread on MSE I panic a bit.

Anyways, all I really wanted to say was despite all the horror stories, I received as prompt a service as can be expected.

Oh, and to the people that are taking cheap shots at each other, go to facebook or something, the people on here tend to be relatively mature and looking for genuine support and assistance. If you've not got anything nice to say, don't say anything! :)

Good luck everyone in sorting out any delivery issues.

I loathe this company! I ordered £50 worth of clothes from Asda for my DD and when I went to check on the status of the order to my surprise it was delivered at 9:45 this morning - to my porch!

I don't have a porch though - just a front step like most people so I opened the front door and guess what - no parcel:mad:

So I checked the back as the delivery instructions clearly stated if not in leave at back door - again no parcel!

Today was my day off and I had been up since 8am with DD. So surely the parcel should be in my hands and not left on the porch or at the back door as I was in?!

Then it struck me! I have a dog - but the dog didn't bark at 9:45 - she barked at 8:30 and almost took the postman's hand off at the same time:o

The lazy git of a courier driver didn't even bother to knock and decided to leave the parcel on the front step in full view of the world and their wife and some lovely person has helped themselves to it:mad:

I love the idea of online shopping but for me that will be the last time I order anything online. This has happened once before and oddly enough it was Hermes who were the courier the last time!

Phoned Asda twice today as I am now £50 out of pocket and have to go out and buy more clothes as we are away on holiday next week for a fortnight!

Will be phoning them again tomorrow as all I want is a refund. I'm still unsure who I'm most p!55ed off at - Hermes for their appalling service or the dirty little thief who stole my daughters clothes!!:mad:

My advice to anyone planning to use them, please think ten times before. They are unhelpful and careless delivery service. My parcel picked up on 18th July and today 3rd aug and still no parcel. Every time I call them very rude to me and it cost 10p per min to listen rubbish music on hold. They keep saying it will be delivered 24 hr but it not happening

    Please don't use their service
  • I also have had lots of problems with Hermes. I tend to avoid retailers who use them. I have also found its worth complaining to retailers about them - even though then tend to say there's nothing much they can do the next parcel normally comes not Hermes when you point out you'll be shopping elsewhere.

I've had 2 fragile items with fragile tape (1 a bottle of champagne for a present) thrown about 8 foot in the air over my back wall into our garden. What's also annoying is they just throw things in my back garden even though I've asked them not to - I've left a note on my door, spoke to them in person and told people I order from and they don't even ring the doorbell first - it happens when I'm in often. Fortunately people have only been in the garden once when she threw something heavy over so no-one has been hit by a flying parcel. I've asked if I can pick things up from her which fair enough they can't do and asked if she can leave it with a neighbour. She even forges my signature on things - I get things from retailers saying you signed for this when I signed nothing. Much prefer the post office myself and am more than happy to pay any extra.

That's a bit unfair, how can you be sure it is the driver's fault? It could a glitch in the Hermes system.

If you refuse to shop with companies who use Hermes, who will you shop with?
