Does anyone know if paying a credit card bill with the HFX moneyback debit card counts as a purchase for the purposes of cashback.

    No it doesn't
  • they used to transfer people from normal current account to money back before, but now you have to open up a new one

its the same for everyone, ok

No you don't, you can redesignate any over 18's current account to Moneyback without changing your account details. It's likely the branch that told you this are trying to get more Bank accounts opened to improve their bonus, as HBOS set a target for new Bank Accounts opened and funded.

Assuming the origianl account is with Halifax or BofS of course, if your coming from a subsidiary like Intelligent Finance, then yes, you have to open a new one.

i work there - was told we now have to do new account, but i work in mortgages - so i don't open new bank accounts

I do too, as a BA, as long as it's not coming from Cardcash or Easycash current accounts. You can redesignate directly without having to change account details as long as they meet the income criteria.

If your branch are opening brand new for EVERY customer, then they are displaying dysfunctional behaviours against the company policy.

hey like I said - sometimes not the BA's fault when they are told to do things. I work in mortgages, and sometimes it can be the same there

i remember my staff account was easily redesignated

but i kinda remember seeing something on announce it

Martin has pointed out how Halifax and Bank of Scotland outrageously charge £1.50 per transaction for foreign currency spending on debit cards. Obviously, moneysavers should use better cards like Nationwide for this, but let’s put that aside.

My question is, do you get the £1.50 back if the purchase is refunded. Or, scandalously, are you charged £1.50 again?

    Hi All,

Was anyone ever able to comfirm is cashback (as in from the till at the supermarket) would earn the 1% moneyback with this account?

Looking at it, it almost must do as it goes through as a single transaction, with the bank simply knowing it was done at that particular supermarket and for how much.

    Cheers

No cashback at the supermarket does not qualify for the 1% Cashback.
