Just spent over half an hour on the phone with Singapore Airlines as website down. Totally flexible as retired and had the agent check availability for the whole promo period, for both Auckland and Christchurch. He found 4 outward flights in total but no corresponding return flights even for a month stay. So you can get there but can't gt back. Better luck next time!
  • What a con !!! There are NO seats available, despite flexibility!!

It was certainly no con - perhaps you just missed the boat

Don't forget these have been on sale since Saturday - my travel agent called me at 9.15am Saturday to discuss my options.

I've just seen someones dream honeymoon wiped out.

The flights have been fine since Saturday. Today all gone.

First come first served. Anyone who says it's a con is just peeved as they have missed out on a cracking deal...Thousands of people have taken advantage of this.

Only downside was I was hoping other airlines would follow suit, but they havn't.

    Because they dithered? Oh no....

It might be worth mentioning that Malaysian have some current flight offers if that would help. (I have booked with them)

    Hi,

We were absolutley gutted as we thought we'd missed out on this fantastic offer. However....

Just booked the flights with Southall Travel (0870 900 3000). We've had to be flexible with the dates, but just booked 4 people on a Singapore Airlines flight from end November 09 to End of December 09 for £463 per person return! Also got VIP lounge access for £5 in Singapore. Don't know too much about Southall but recall they are sponsoring SKY's T20 coverage, so can't been a small outfit.

    Hope this helps!

How many people have said on here, "We got cheap flights to Aystralia and New Zealand as a result of this offer" It is not a con. NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT!!!!

It was a cracking, but limited, offer which is allowing 7 people I know to go to Australia and NZ for effectively half price saving a few thousands pounds as a result.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • I have just read this thread with incredulity at some peoples comments. Having worked in the airline business for over 20 years inc 5 with SQ, i can speak with complete confidence in saying this offer is not a con.

You have 2 things going on simultaneously here

    1. a worldwide drop in demand for air travel
    2. the introduction of the A380 on the SQ route giving circa 20% extra capacity per flight against the old 747 or 777 aircraft

Airlines see seats as a perishable good as once a flight has gone they cant be sold. Therefore a bum on a seat is better than an empty one.

However in economy, airlines can have over 50 different fares each with different conditions and each flight will normally have x amount of seats available at each fare. This revenue management function is crucial for airlines to make money. Therefore as an earlier poster said, when you take off taxes you are looking at a core fare of £170, so how likely is it that SQ will sell the whole plane at that fare!!!

Those people calling this a con, need get a grip and get involved earlier next time, because its likely there will be a next time as airlines continue to have too many seats and not enough bums

    I hope this helps

If I could press the thank-you button on Marble's opriginal post a thousand times I would :) (I'm surprised Marble's post has only 8 thank yous???!!!)

Have got return tickets to Sydney next Feb for £406 each for me and my boyf - I was planning on going anyway but thought I would have to save up much more than this!! Its a surprise for my boyfs 30th birthday. SO THANK YOU!!!

Also thanks to Johnwt who encouraged me to keep looking - although I didnt find the flights on netflights - Kayak was the best bet for me.

Hope more of you find some tickets
