All 3 share the same production line. If you look at the shape of the car they are all the same.

I thought it was just me being a girl thinking they were all similar! I can only tell cars apart if they're different colours!! So I guess if they're all the same, just go for the cheapest?

Aye we'll have two cars anyway, but be a plan to be able to fit nessisary paraphenalia in both. I go through broody cycles, atm babies terrify me, but every so often I start going mushy at random babies on the street, and getting all dissapointed when my time of the month doesn't fail to turn up. Still, I think scared is a better place than broody!

NIM used to be a bit like your OH Birdie, said he'd be really upset on how we'd support a kid and couldn't give it the life we'd like to if I was to get pregnant now, but recently he's said that were it to happen now, yes he'd be worried financially, but emotionally he'd be delighted. Which is lovely to hear even if it does hint he's more mature than me! Also considering swapping contraception as the implant is driving me batty, since I have high blood pressure it might not be something quite so bullet proof which worries me, but at least I know should it fail he'd not be throwing himself off anything.

So did you go for the Aygo+ or Micra in the end Poolie? I have to be honest and say for the ammount of time I spend in my car I couldn't go to a smaller one even though it might make financial sense since there is only usually me or me and NIM in it. I briefly owned a vw lupo (having got claustrophobic in my driving instructors saxo) but then ended up with a roomy Ignis 4x4, and am now on my beloved (if tempermental) Bu, my alfa 147. OH has a medium size car too, a hyundai coupe, both 1.6 litre. As well as not liking feeling cramped, it's the engine, I would absolutely flog a little engine since I spend 2 hours a day driving and about 3/4 of that is in the 60-75mph range. I get 39mpg out of mine, which is good enough. My car might be about to be in my bad books though as this weekend it is going to the garage for
    1. What I think is a bust wheel bearing
    2. A knackered switch under the break pedal meaning lights are intermitent if I don't stomp on it like I want to go through the floor!
    3. A weeping power stearing cord
    4. A snapped handbreak cord
    5. A new clutch pedal grip
    6. A faulty fog light sensor
Could be a costly weekend! We've pretty much decided not to trade in either car unless they go majorly wrong, as we REALLY don't want to borrow to get a new one, so we're going to slowly save up. Hoping no more debt ever (mortgage probably going to be nessisary, unless I can pull the world's biggest bunny out of the hat).

Hope you feel better soon Birdie x

We have decided on the Aygo+.

The Car Tax difference was the final straw. Micra - £110 where the Aygo was £35 for the 1st year and then £20 for the following year. Also the fuel consumption it was going to cost about £15 less to fill the tank on the Aygo compared to the Micra.

We currently have a Fiat Bravo but OH finds it too big. She past her test in March after trying for 2 years - confidence problem. I spend most of the time in the car due to driving to work but don't have to do 60-70 range as most fo the road are country so max is 40/50 on them.

I thought you were being a bit dramatic there Dinah!

Augh, I'm in a real quandary about what to do with my car. I love him very much but I feel he's at an age where he's going to start costing me serious money soon. The original plan was to get a newer old Micra for £1-2,000 ... I just can't work out if this scrappage deal is too good to turn down. But I'm like you Dinah, don't want to borrow for a new car after paying outright for this one and having no monthly outgoings on it ...

£600 for a mixer?!?!?! Have I misunderstood? Surely they can't charge that much for a glorified whisk??? I feel a bit faint!

Noo I need to save to £600 then I'll buy the (£150) mixer. £600 and I'd be wanting to weigh, mix, bake and ice the cakes for me!

Glad to hear the tickets have turned up Wendz! You can get all giddy and jumpy-abouty when you get home and see them!

Just about to go and make the pizza dough for tonight. OH has broke his glasses (right on the bridge so I can't fix them!) so I'm trying to book him in at boots tomorrow. Silly boys!

Yoga for Babies?! How creepy! As for cars for when you have kids, everytime OH says he needs a new car he says 'Of course we'll need a bigger car for when we have little Ralph!' saying this we have baby wars, like me dragging him into mothercare to try and scare him. He always wins, babies scare the hell out of me too!

We went through the same problem Tete which is why we had to compare the cars we were looking at in a spreadsheet so we could see the costs involved.

The cheapest of the C1, 107 and Aygo is the C1 but the finish is not as good as the Aygo so worth spending a little bit to get a better finish which is what the Aygo gives us.

Re the scrappage scheme - watch out as some manufacturers are giving more off but they are getting it back either through higher interest rates or other charges. Also depends on what sort of car you are looking for.

I'm resisting the urge to cover my eyes and ears and sing la-la-la-la-la at the top of my voice, thinking about it I just go round and round in circles and want to crawl under my duvet! (Is that a bit extreme?)

As I think the car needs to have a valid MOT (to qualify), I was thinking of asking someone to do a non-MOT for me, to find out how much it'll cost but not put it through the computers ... maybe that might make the decision a bit easier...

Re. the higher interest rates to offset the offer, maybe it would be worth looking around for a cheap loan rather than go through the garage? If anyone's giving out loans these days ...
