I knew he would, since he had poutily asked if he could use the wedding savings to get a ring - but I didn't know he would ask so soon!

You must have been so surprised! How lovely! It's funny how when you were off on holiday everyone thought he was gonna propose then but it was on an unsuspecting walk! :D Well done NIM!

You must be giddy with excitement! Like someone else mentioned, could this be your next phase? You said you needed an excuse for a new one! This is perfect! 'Saving for the dream wedding!' It's like a fairytale story lol, all you need is kids now to round it all off nicely! :p

My god, I go away for one weekend!

All I have to say is.... FINALLY!

So happy for you Dinah!! :D (and NIM, of course, but this is a girly moment) To be honest, I was expecting you to already have a date set too :o You just seem like that kind of couple!

Loooong time lurker but have to post my congratulations to you both! I have a slight addiction to your thread actually, it keeps me on the straight and narrow to remember what you have achieved. Would it be weird to say I was happy for you both? There can never be too much happiness in the world after all! x

Yay! We got the same thing about the date, it's quite on top when you have only been engaged for a few hours.

Did he say anything special (that we are allowed to know)?

He just did it very simply, got down on one knee and said I made him happier than he ever thought he could be, and would I spend the rest of my life with him. And I just nodded because couldn't trust myself to talk!

It's lovely so many lurkers have taken the time to post, and its really touching how happy everyone here is for us.
