Brill, OK well we'll see what she says.I can't imagine it'll take us THAT long to get to grips with the machines ... will it?! Might try and have a go on my antique one - maybe there's library books!! I got myself some rather fab fabric in a charity shop a couple of months ago, really garish bright yellow flowers, not sure I'd make clothes from it mind!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

I've got a fair few 'learn to sew' books, I just haven't used them! If there are none in the library I'll get NIM to drop a couple off to you on his way home one evening.
I bought fabric in Boyes about 2 years ago, really vintage style, teeny little flowers on a white background, no idea whatsoever what I'd do with it, but I'm determined I will do something! Would make a nice bedspread or something.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oooh I'm getting excited Dinah!! I'll have a look in my Cooking, Knitting and Sewing for Girls book from the 70s, that might be the right era for my sewing machine! Boro library had quite a lot of cookbooks I remember so I imagine I might be ok for sewing... I went in Boyes a while back to have a look at the fabric and all they seemed to have was horrible bright stuff for making dance costumes with. When I worked there they used to do remnants really cheap - that's what I was after to experiment with. I hope I can get the hang of it, I'll be very disappointed if I'm rubbish!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

I'm sure you'll be very good at it Tete!
I've always fancied making a patchwork quilt, I remember attempting one when I was younger and it went totally wrong and wonky! I'd love to make a special quilt for my babies to sleep under! There should be a place to go where you can learn to be a good housewive and learn all the Motherly skills... like finishing school for the masses!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Yeah! I want to make a patchwork quilt too!! Or a knitted patchwork one but I can't knit either. I really wanted to go to one of those knitting groups like they had on Kirstie's homemade home!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

LOL! I think if I started knitting a scarf it might be finished in about 5 years! Maybe I should start on the baby booties now, they might be finished by the time I have babies to wear them!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Yes, its a pyramidal scarf, very cutting edge. It's done now if he uses a safety pin to fasten it - not long enough to tie!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
