The log cabin sounds a good idea Tete. The naked scrabble - whatever takes you fancy. Do you play it so it is naughty words you have to make as well?

Okay someone tell me if I'm missing something. The Tesco mobile phone deal in the newsletter. To get the points (= to £40 of deals) you buy a phone handset at £39.97. Now, I'm not about to do it for 3p. HOWEVER, that model of phone can be traded in on phonebank for £13, which would be profit... what am I missing?!

We're now looking to go to a travel agents this weekend see if we can get a deal to mainland Greece. We were planning to go next September for 2 weeks, but if we can find a good deal we might as well go now! Found 10 days in 3* Turkey for £182 each, but we don't really have any desire to go there!

My OH wants to go to Iceland in October. I would like to go but don't think I can afford. I am trying to suggest Cornwall or somewhere but he doesn't seem too keen.

The Lake District would be nice in a little cottage or something. Half my family live up there so we usually go there at least once a year.

I love the Lake District but apparently it rains an average of 25 out of 31 days in October.... bit offputting! Have found us several 3* deals to Greece, Portugal etc for under £250 per person, if its the right area of Greece (ie near Athens) then I think we'll just do something like that. I'm suprised how few companies do 10 day deals though.

Yeah guess you would likely be sat inside while it rains outside the whole time. Greece sounds good, would be quite a lot to see etc as well.

Good Morning! What a shame about not going to Italy, but Greece sounds good! Methinks the weather will be better than in the Lakes!

I'm all excited; I'm going home for the night tonight and I've only got 3 and a bit hours till I can blow this joint! Lets just not mention having to get up at stupid o'clock in the morning to get back here for 8am!

I'm not sure you'd want 10 days near Athens - I don't think there's all that much there. I went for a long weekend (before the Olympics, so it was pretty much a building site) and aside from the Acropolis (which is amazing!) it was nothing special. I'm not sure what the beaches are like round there though...

I quite like the sound of holing up somewhere snug while it's foul weather outside. Naked scrabble, eh - intellectual and saucy!

I lost 3 whole pounds this week - woo! Makes up for losing sod all the week before :) and i celebrated by going out for dinner (2 meals for £7.95) and succumbed to dessert (buy one get one free) - it was a bargain, but Oops!

ETA: Tis a shame about Italy, although a couple of weeks in some of the most romantic cities in the world smacks of honeymoon destination! Sorry!

Thats great Poddle congrats! I'm on a lunch of rocket, 5 falafel, an orange pepper and a bit of cous cous, (323 cals), then some pineapple (60 cals) and an M & S count on us probiotic fat free yogurt (75 cals), and the continuous diet coke (5 cals). Leaves me 458 cals for dinner tonight.

Has anyone been to Rhodes? Found a fantastic deal, 7 nights in a 5 star all inclusive for £367 each, but I don't know what there is to do there.

Unfortunately, for a linguist, I struggle way too much with Scrabble so it's basically whatever word you can get!

Everyone says that about Turkey, it has bad press somehow, I've been twice, admittedly about 15 years ago now when it was still 'emerging' as a tourist destination, but we loved it  As for Greece, I've been to Rhodes (I know it's an island...) and loved it there too, Rhodes Town is gorgeous!

Ooh I'd love to go to Iceland Wendz, my cousin went there on Honeymoon for a week a couple of years ago and said it was sooooo expensive!

Poddle well done on the 3lbs - that's loads! My dad commented that I looked sylph-like this morning which I was quite pleased with :D

OK, so MOT time. This is the second year in a row I've done Martin's thing of taking it to a place that doesn't do repairs so they don't make up loads of stuff that's wrong with it. So Bluey failed and there was mention of the catalytic converter among other things like a bulb and tyres, and I was really worried for a while. So I've gone along to a taxi place where the taxi mechanics do work on the side (not sure how legal it is, but last year they charged me £100 for some work I'd been quoted £220 elsewhere), turns out it's not the cat but a hole in the exhaust, phew, so he's doing all my work for me today for £114, inc 2 tyres, lightbulb and some welding!!! Hurrah for the Blue Bullet!! SO relieved!! (Dinah and NIM, ever need anything doing I'd highly recommend them)

And it's been great for the diet as I've done a bit of running around (walked for 60 mins in total) and not eaten anything yet this morning as I've been so busy. Right, where's my salad?

ETA - Poddle just noticed your sig, yay! Will really start coming down now you're working, must feel great!
