Oooh, sounds lovely! Which book were you discussing? How often does the club meet? I really do fancy joining one but I'm not very good at analysing- I just say if I like it or not, I don't really think about what the writer meant by setting it in Springtime and whatnot!
Hey Birdie,
This month it was When will there be good news? by Kate Atkinson. At the beginning my friend just put an ad on Gumtree, and now we meet once a month. Each person chooses a book in turn, but the rule is that it has to be something nobody has read before. All the people are really nice, especially for just a random internet thing. Each person takes it in turn to host at their house, making a bit of dinner and people bring wine and food.
After dinner everybody gives it a score out of ten and says one or two things they liked or hated. Normally after that there are a few contentious points or points of discussion. It's mostly just about what we liked or disliked, not like school analysis or anything, although sometimes we talk about that stuff a little bit. We all have loads of drinks and then at the end of the night we spend the last hour just chatting generally.
You should definitely set once up Birdie!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

Portack Lane used to be the weekly run out with my grandparents for their asda shopping as the was not one in hartlepool at the time and they didnt like the store, after going to Stewarts Park in Middlesborough followed by a cup of tea at the cafe in the B&Q car park (it was a seperate little building).0

Hadn't been to Portrack Lane in ages but I've frequented on average once a week since they opened Go Oudoors. I'm a bit like you though Dinah, never know my way anywhere, Dad and OH go mad with me. Getting more of an idea of the geography of the area since I've been driving tho.
Been off in the Land of the Prince Bishops for a meeting, was hoping to meet up with OH for dinner as I'd be in the vicinity but he had to meet a stoopid architectWas very good at the meeting and only had the one Danish Pastry, then had some lovely fruit and now having a salad
Would really be a saving if you could just run the one car Dinah, could NIM arrange some sort of flexi or use the extra half hour to write a dooyoo review a day or something? Or in the interests of health, you could always throw him out on the 177 and make him cycle to Billingham, it's not that far!
Lara your book group sounds fab, a great way to make new friends. I remember looking at the ads on gumtree as a way to make friends when I first moved back to the area, but round here it was all badly-spelled offers of no-strings rumpy :rolleyes:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I'd join a book group up here, granted my spelling is pretty terrible, but I guarantee I won't badger you for the other!
Had NIMs yummy homemade soup for lunch, and wholemeal baguette (so many calories, its terrible!), but still have 431 cals left for dinner. Knowing my luck mum will make her lasagne or something and I'll have to just have a tiny piece and lots of salad.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

What did it blank out?! I don't know if he's allowed on external sites if hes there early. Besides, he's a hard worker, I think he'd probably just try to get more done to impress the bosses.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
