Wow, it's busy on here today I can't keep up with posts! Thanks Poolie, I don't know, I think I'm a better employee than him and my manager knows that, but it was another lady on the panel and although she knows me she hasn't worked with me, don't know whether my manager will have had any input. Ah well, we're supposed to find out today, might go to the gym and work off this tension!

Dinah I agree on coach trips, and cruises - you seem to spend all your time travelling, then only get 6 hours in a place, I like to be able to wander and get a good feel for the place rather than try to cram it in.

ETA - how many nights is that for in Venice?!

Best I have found is £460 for 5 nights.... We said we wanted to do it on £550, so it's marginally over, but I really don't want to sepnd more than £380 or so for 5 nights, since we could stay a stonking 7 nights in NY in a 4 star in the centre for £450!

I do believe I already have that title Cinny! At least you save! Did I tell you OH is making me keep a spending diary because he's worried about where my money goes?!

I totally think that your Dad meant to say 'Here's £20 to spend in Lush on nice smellies to perk you up!' so crack on guilt free my dear!

Does anyone remember The Sock Shop? I used to spend about half my pocket money in there every month!

ETA: This really is moving too quickly, it was still on page 210 when I wrote this so no it makes no sense!

EATA: Oooh, that sounds like a good deal to NY! If we weren't already planning on the Dominican I'd be looking into that! Stupid Dominican! ;)

I've never got a sock thing, used to spend loads in La Senza, but now I am absolutely loving the Elle McPherson undies, although haven't bought a set in about 2 years! Last undies were from Dunnes, the equivalent of Tesco in Ireland, great value and really comfy, durable and pretty too.

Oooh now you're asking Tete, was a month ago I found that one. Will be doing a holiday options list this weekend, so I will post up the full deals list that I find for New York (and Venice, Prague and Paris, just because we all love some good holiday !!!!!!!)

We used to have a Dunnes in Billo, where the Tesco is now - it's the only one I've heard of in England! I quite like it in Ireland. Talk of undies reminds me, I think I may have flashed my brasiere to the Dean at that interview; he was sitting to the side of me and I'm wearing a wrap dress... Ah well, Can't have done any harm! Off to the gym so I can pig out tonight!

Cinny I thought you had about four cats?!

I did! Thinking about it we've lost 3 cats in 18months.. Christ! That's horrible thinking about it like that! One from natural causes (she was 16) and 2 with accidents. Poor Sh*tface has outlived 4 cats now, I'm starting to suspect foul play!
I'm keeping an eye out for signs though as him and Dinah were like a little couple! He's just been really cuddley since it happened, like last night when I was reading he was snuggled up right by my side and he never does that.

Bridie - I'd hate to do a spending diary if I knew OH was going to be reading it, although it might curb your spending I'd still hate it.

You know what.. I think he did! Maybe he just didn't know how to put it into words?

Blimey - this thread is moving fast! Dinah that's a fab price for 7 nights in NY! I say go.. but then flights cost a bomb don't they?

I don't remember the sock shop but I do remember and love toe socks! I don't know what use they had but I had loads of them.

Flights to NY, £244 each, not too bad I think considering don't need the whole transfers and faff on the other end, just grab the shuttle bus or a taxi, and this end is from Newcastle, changing over in Amsterdam or Paris.

I think the fact that people read this is why I've stopped spending so much, I feel that I have to be accountable, so don't want to waste money. End of the day though I think my attitude has just changed, and I don't want to buy disposable fashion or a CD or whatever, because it's not actually going to bring me that much happiness. Holidays do though!

I keep thinking that maybe I should have a proper diary on here to really make me feel accountable for my spending and not working hard enough to make extra cash but I think having yet another one of us having a diary will be too much! I'll just have to accountalble to you girls!

I don't really like buying disposable fashion, and I don't tend to as long as I'm not out shopping with my mum who just makes me buy everything because it's so 'cheap' (not quite so cheap when I end up spending £70 on everything though!)! She's my real downfall!

I'm having a bit of a panic; it's the Rugby Club Cocktail Party in a couple of weeks and I have the dress already, I bought it in a designer clearance thing earlier this year (£40 instead of £150!). The problem is that it is black and pink (big oval sequins all over, sounds awful but it's nice, I swear!) and I have no shoes or a bag to go with it. I can't even think of anything that'll do the job and I don't want to look too black since it's (supposed to be) summer! I may have to cave and get some cheap pink shoes from New Look but I feel really bad about it! I'll have to have a good root around this weekend just in case I've got something suitable lying around that I've forgotten I'd bought!

Where on earth do you find these deals?! I never find prices like that!

When I was on my thread if I was out shopping I'd really stick to what I had on my list I remember picking things up and then thinking 'how would I explain buying that?!' Although I'm letting loose a bit this weekend I'm going to write up everything I bought with prices on my thread Sunday night - might tame my spends a little bit knowing I have that to face!

Just a question, has anyone got their cats insured? I'm thinking of covering my cat just incase - god forbid - anything happens to him. I've never insured a pet before and don't know any good companies - Petplan look good but I don't have a clue! I only picked them because Dawn French does the advert
