Got the day off today. OH has brought home a stack of girly mags from his work. The shoe designers he shares a building with cut out all the shoes and then leave the rest, haha. So you have to read around the holes a little bit.

Thinking of having a trashy mag reading morning followed up by hardcore cleaning and cooking session. Plus I have ironing mountain like you Wendz.

Currently reading for book club When will there be good news? By Kate Atkinson, it's ok I am enjoying it but probably wouldn't recommend. Also The shock doctrine by Naomi Klein.

    Morning everyone

Just popped in to try and update myself as I never got back last week. Started the new job and it's actually fine, am on shifts again so feel like I've got more time at home and it's nice to be appreciated (as much as any company can appreciate you) instead of constantly belittled and criticised. Only downside is that I got a reduced pay from the old company and not quite sure if I'll be getting paid at the end of the month with the new one. I was told I would but they work in mysterious ways as I know from experience. Well, we bought a kitchen the other day from B&Q - £1600 but that includes a dishwasher and cooker. To be fair, if it was our forever kitchen I would have spent more but we just want a decent kitchen for us but which will help sell the house too. The good news is that I have found a way of transferring that NR loan to the CC cos I found some cheques I'd forgotten they'd sent me so I got the settlement figure and wrote a cheque. Now I can throw money at just one debt instead of the 2 so when the car loan finishes in 5 months I've got £300 to throw at the debt plus whatever else I can afford :T I did a snowball calculator the other day and it said I could be debt free in 22 months but I want to come in far quicker than that. Also managed to get 3 mS on Thursday but just before I did one I got an email from the company telling me not to do it. 2 days later I got an email from them saying it had been de-allocated as I hadn't done it and why hadn't I? Sent them a copy of the email but was a bit put out - all this hassle for £3!!

Right, better go and do morning jobs before work but have a good day everyone xx
Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:

We've got her a few packs of food to see if she likes it, need to get her a load more though. NIM wants to speak to the vet first though.

Well done on the debt-busting Pilchard!

Have to wait until NIMs dad gets back from holiday to talk about the house, so about 2 weeks :( I would be suprised if this house isn't under offer by then, but at least we will know where we stand to keep an eye open for any other possibilities if the answer is a yes, or I can ban myself from Rightmove if its a no!

Horray Tete is back! The days on here will not be as quiet.

Are you saying a talk too much?! :o

Lara your day sounds lovely, I'm back to work this morning and feel like I've never been away. What are you cooking up?

Pilchard, glad new job is going ok - that seems cheap for a kitchen, not that I'm experienced in such purchases! Did what I swore I wouldn't last night and had a look at Newcastle flats on rightmove last night in case I get the job (eek, there I've jinxed it!) - there are some LOVELY places if you can spare £800 per month, sigh...

Well Day 1 of the diet and I even measured out 40g of cereal this morning (111 cals) - it's actually not much less than I'd normally have I meant I wasn't sick of it by the time I got to the end. I've never calorie counted before, it's quite exciting! My salad only comes to 207 I think, inc dressing. Was surprised that a teaspoon of sugar is 16! How many in a cup of instant coffee? Switching to fruit teas in work I think!

ETA- had no idea you were so close to an actual house Dinah! Where at?

Bloody BT. Just seen the phone bill on line. At the top of the bill it says were increasing your Direct Debit and too see below for information. Guess what!

No information below. Also further down the bill those who receive the bill monthly or quarterly and paper free you meant to get a discount of £1.25 but mine shows £1.09 for each month so we are being short changed.

Have left them a call back in the queue. If I do not the answer I will be on to the chairman office.

I didn't say to talk so much Tete just that the conversations carry on all day rather than the stop start we have had while you have been away.

BT Update - Well the system called back (as usual India) who admitted they can't see the same edition of the bill I can see. Call the online billing number. Sorry I am not going round the houses to get the information.

Time to phone Chairman and CEO office. I have the number of a lady who helped lost when we moved and had problems

I have the estate agents particulars and I used my council log on to get the schedule of listing from English Heritage. I refuse to see it until we know if there is money in place, these are real people selling the house and I don't want to mess them about or get their hopes up. I'm aware we might not like it, but on paper it ticks every box, and I forsee having to do a lot of work to it anyway.

When I lived in Newcastle Tete I lived in Heaton (studenty but nice enough), Sandyford (again studenty, and more expensive but central) and then a flat on the Ochre Yards development in Gateshead. It's right on the Quayside, 10 mins walk into town or 5 up to Gateshead metro station and the Tesco. We had a lovely flat with big balcony, low bills, and parking, band A council tax, and £550 a a month for two beds when I last checked. Also means anyone commuting south doesn't have the traffic issues on a morning getting over the bridge, and it is only one stop on the metro from central station. Actually worked out more central for us than when we were up in Heaton.

Good luck Poolie, I hate anything like that - I put off doing it because I always know what a faff it's going to be!

Trying not to think about it Dinah!! I've lived in Heaton and Sandyford as well. I've had three privately rented places around Newcastle and each time someone was killed just outside or round the corner, even tho tho of the areas were nice! (That's NEVER happened to me in Teesside I might add!) - a lot of the two bedroom places are ground floor flats, where I know for a fact the upstairs and roof will be a 6-bed student maisonette, and don't want to be living beneath students at all! There are some lovely lofts etc around the quayside, and some gorgeous places on Clayton St, Gateshead Quayside had crossed my mind too. Anyway, we'll wait and see!

So it's a listed house?? How lovely! And at least you'll know what you can and can't do when you're doing it up!
