You're getting married, no such thing now, joint decisions regardless of who puts what in the pot!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

How exciting about how close Ibiza is tete- we went to es cana when i was about 12 , was lovely
I want to go somewhere good on holiday next year. OH wants to go with my mum and dad so he can do 'exciting stuff' with my Dad lol. Fine by me as can just sunbathe with my mum0 -
I'll try convincing him of that argument! We don't have all joint finances, all bills are paid off with joint account (he puts more in than me because he earns more) but he's paying for the holiday with his 'leftover spends' money i.e. a hefty insurance payout following his hospital stay! Things will change when I have babies and stop work but that's how it's working for us right now.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Still, I don't think its fair that you don't have an equal say regardless. You'd expect an equal say when you had kids surely even if you were contributing nothing moneywise? What does he do that pays well enough for you to be able to quit in a few years? (Hating my job today, need something new!)Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I'd love to be able to stop work! In theory now that OH is in teh police and earning more if i became pregnant by accident or something we would actually be able to survive ok. Would be the end of the house dream for a while though.0

Aye, this is why I think its a good idea to buy early and pay off as much as you can early on, so you're comfortable when things happen.
Having a bit of a panic today, have a contraceptive implant in my arm, and NIM managed to lean on it this morning and it hurt lots, and now I can't find it at all!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Is nice to know we would be Ok if something happened but you are right that would be much better to be comfortable.
owww! I hate the thought of implants, I am so squeamish about injections etc.0 -
You should be able to save a really nice deposit for a few years though Wendz, so your monthly payments will be a lot lower when you buy/you can overpay and get a lot more off the balance.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I do have an equal say, if not more than he does. I'm the one who decided we'd go in November to suit the holiday season in the Dominican and since I haven't set a specific date I'm happy for him to choose a time that suits him. I set the wedding month and he just went along with it so I let him have a lot of say in other things to make up for my decisons!
He doesn't have a very flash job; he drives FLTs at my work but he loves it because it's well paid with very little responsibility and stress and he's very active, he'd go mad sat at a desk all day. I'm hoping he'll be able to move to a better paid job that will support us when I have babies but I'm not stupid and I know that giving up work is a dream but I keep hoping that I'll be able to do it!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Yep that is true! Think it will be good to do it ourselves as well without having to borrow money off my parents which we will then have to pay back. I am actually getting quite excited at the thought of saving the deposit up. Need to get rid of this debt first though.0
