    hello ladies!

just been catching up on a very busy (and controversial) few pages! I think I'm firmly on the fence on the wedding debate :) although I've been engaged for two years and I would be over the moon to marry OH, it's not the be all and end all for us. We went the Cinny-route and took a joint mortgage last year instead of getting married - a 25 year commitment is surely longer than most marriages... I don't seriously mean that, it was purely a financial decision to buy a house rather than a wedding.

However, I'm not in any rush to get married and it's probably less important as we're not planning on having children (try telling that to people, Wendz, it's like I've sprouted horns!). I know some people would consider that selfish, but in my mind it would be more selfish to bring kids into the world just because society thinks we should rather than because we genuinely believe we could give them a fantastic life. OMG, anyone see Wife Swap on Sunday when the awful WAG mum basically admitted that the baby she had with her new hubby was much more important than her two other kids?! She sent them to bed at 7pm every night!

anyway, I digress! I did start my new job yesterday - I think I'm going to love it :D bit knackered though, and my first proper job is to write and edit report for the trustees - one of them is Lynne Truss, notorious militant grammatist who singlehandedly spearheaded a campaign against errant commas and apostrophes! Now I agree with her, but I'm terrified! x

Yes i did see that wifeswap, was shocking. Poor kids, no wonder the boy wanted to go to his Dads. I actually thought the step dad was OK in the end and seemed to like spending time with the kids, so was obviously the mums decision.

Glad you are enjoying the job!

NIM tried to propose to me in November, and I stopped him, thinking he'd regret it - he was crushed and has apparently decided not to bother asking again!

Saw that wife swap too Poddle and Wendz - what a mean old thing she was. And the 2 hour beauty sessions for 'hubby' what planet was she living on?!

Eeek Lynne Truss Poddle - LOL You will definitely have to mind your Ps and Qs.

I am really pleased to be getting married to OH. But some of our friends think we're mad. I respect their opinions - I think mortgages and children are definitely major commitments!

I think marriages are crazy at the moment, a lot of them are about expense, consumerism, showing off etc. It's easy to romanticise. Although where people have kids I think it's really bad to have multiple devastating break-ups that harm kids' security and confidence.

Done x 3 MSs today yippeee and one of them was for a beauty place!!!

I love her work, but I can't say I envy you! Couldn't you just speak on an tape instead for her? I'd be so worried to even write her a post it note. Glad you're enjoying your new job though.

Well done on the 3 MSs Lara! Oooo, that's fab about the beauty place too!

Getting all excited for tomorrow, off to buy... TRAVEL MINIS!!! I know I don't really need them, but it saves lugging my oversized Tigi bottles about. Been reading the boots thread, ahh.. I miss my bootser days, been over 9 months since I quit but still working through my stash!

ETA: Dinah, are you watching Property Snakes and Ladders? The woman turning a jail house into a home? Crazy!

Travel Minis - haha Cinny! Yay!

Argh only 1 out of 7 ebay items sold. They were only at 1.99 - 2.49 and had LOADS of watchers.

    Ebay is a strange beast.

Made some cupcakes :) They're lovely but I think I've spolied them a bit by putting too many jelly tots on top :o and I've made myself feel a bit sick by eating all the leftover frosting _pale_

I'm very good Cinny and invested in little bottles to decant stuff into! :money:

Glad you're enjoying the job Poddle, I'd be way scared to do anything for La Truss!!

Eeek Lara - did that one item even cover the listing fees?

Making me want another cupcake now Tete, but two in one day is more than enough!
