You're taking it well about the house Cinny, I'd be distraught lol.

I have to be.. ''grown up'' pfft.
I'm pretty upset, was nice thinking me and OH could be living together in a few years, but there's nothing to say we can save up and get a house together in the same time frame (yano, bar our wages and everything!)

I love the orange/coral coloured one on a silver band, would be very different for an engagement ring plus it would go well with a slim silver wedding band. Not that I have this planned or anything

Dinah - You've got a good egg there! I don't think OH would really want to buy me a ring on his own, I'm not a jewelry person so he doesn't know my taste too well for the rare bits I do like. So I just drop these massive hints when things do take my fancy. :D

That is true actually, and really sweet! I've just noticed that the jewellery place I like does commissions! I would love something that my OH had designed himself. That would be perfect. Think I'm getting my hopes up though, considering he doesn't want to propose! :p

I think its better this way Cinny, you'll get to choose the house thats right for you together. Besides you never know where you'll be in two years, you might have been promoted and need to work in a different area.

I'm very conciously trying not to plan at the moment, boy got me all dynamic thinking we were moving in one direction, months later, hope has left me, so I'm refusing to plan!

I'm quite relieved really. Me and OH want to live in a family netural place, close enough to keep good contact but far enough away it'll just be us. We found a village perfectly between our families that would be perfect for that, but just our luck it's an 'old' village so really pricey!

It's always nice to have a day dreamy kind of plan though Dinah! The type that you don't set your heart on, but they're really nice to plan!

No Flower, you're right! There was always a chance that they would sell the land, so it's always been there in my noggin.

ETA: Booked the holiday for December! :D Something to look forward too now (bar Kent that is)

Planning is fun but can be annoying when things change. A bit like my plan to move to South London, which has now totally changed!

In regards to the engagement thing, I would like to be surprised but at the same time I wouldn't know what to do if I hated it! OH has always got me nice jewellary though so think he'd be ok.

I can't really imagine hating it if I knew he'd chosen it for me, because thats what would make it special, not that its really big and shiny.

Ooooh no, he'd have to pick my ring for me - its part of the romance of it. Christ whats the point in men even pretending to be involved if women pick the ring, organise the wedding, etc, this way at least they feel like actually they do wear the trousers!

I know what you mean Dinah. My ex husband took me to Warren James jewelers (sp?) and pointed to one tray and said 'pick a ring off that'! I then had to pay for the blooming thing and when I kicked off about it the woman in the shop said that she'd had to pay for hers too!!!! With OH I've shown him the type of ring I'd like so there's no mistaking and giving me something garish. His ex wife liked chunky jewellery and that is really not me. He also knows my ring size cos my ring finger is the same size as his little finger so the rest is up to him!!!!
Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:

We got my finger measured as the ring size my mum thought I am is too big (NIM asked her when he got my Claddagh), however it seems she was right, and they just sold him a bigger ring and pretended it was the right size!

Trying a new system getting in to work at 8.10, means I should be able to go home earlier. NIM is at the mens group from church tonight (was at the womens one last night, such a riot!), which means painting time for me tonight, very happy. Last few days have been really good.
