I didn't feel unfaithful to our old car but it was needing a trip to the nakers yard. It was cost sooo much in petrol and the maintenance costs were sill.
Last year - MOT and Service was over £650.
This Year - MOT and Service was £130. Does not include the new exhuast £330, new tyres - I think we have had 4 this year so call that £250ish.0 -
Good Lord - It is nearly 3:30 and I have done nothing but sit and look at code. I better get this place sorted out a bit before I go for OH in 2 hours.0

I am concerned that the scrappage deal is seen as 'too good to miss' by too many people, who are taking on debts for an asset which will never be worth as much as they are paying out on it, where before they'd just have got a five year old car in cash, now they take out finance on a brand new one, yet when they come to sell it in 3 years the 2k saved is kind of insignificant against the 50% drop in value its taken.
You see, this is what I think I'm being suckered in to! I would never normally have considered a brand new car, and I'm more than happy with Bluey (though he looks like he's missing a tooth after he lost a wheel trim at the weekend). I keep reminding myself that this scheme is to help the economy not me. Although the 500s don't depreciate that much I don't think, the second hand ones I've looked at are a lot more than I'd pay with scrappage.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
The 500s are too new to have an established second hand market though, you wouldn't be looking to sell it in six months (the age of some of the second hand ones about now), but in 3 years or something I would assume? By which point the market will have a lot more of them and they'll be older so the value will be a lot less than the second hand ones you see now.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Yeah I guess. Augh I'm still really really torn. OH thinks I have a 'student mentality' where I just always male do rather than get myself something nice which I can afford! Actually I spend a hell of a lot less now than I did then!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Just tried to go onto Barclays Online banking and the site is currently unavailable.
I think Barclays are also having problems with their cash machine network.

I think it's a responsible mentality to be honest Tete, you don't feel this need to spend money like its burning a hole in your pocket, and thats a great attitude to have.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Ooh, that'll be romantic - a whirlwind trip! Eurostar's nice and easy from London. On our way back this Australian in front of us was surprised that the tunnel started on land, I think he was expecting to go splashing into the sea or something!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
