It's been a funny couple of days. I don't feel as though I have achieved anything and have been in a really tetchy mood which doesn't help. Had an overwhelming urge to spend some money today but instead of going shopping I went to Tesco and got some father day cards, some tesco own brand chocolate coz it was cheaper and some staple bits and pieces that we need. It was still spends but a lot less than I fear I could have today if I had gone with my whim.
Positives
- OH got invited to Consumer pulse panel so I duly entered the details for him, should give us a voucher once a month or so
- Redeemed a £10 voucher from ipoints which I am putting towards a uv sun tent for dd for the beach
- Didn't spend as much as I could have
- Won £12 on bingo
Negatives
- feel like I'm not achieving
- Deposited into bingo (I won but that's not the point)
- DD2 is playing up
- DD1 is acting like I am around to pick up after her.
- Had to cancel a dr's appt for a smear and the next one is in two weeks time which means I have to continue taking pill for third month running without a break but it's my fault for not getting off my rear earlier and making it sooner.
So nothing major and there are plenty of people worse off than me I know, but I'm entitles to a down day. Oh and mil is due over soon and I could really do without seeing her today, not in the mood lol.
Have to bath dd2 and wanted to cook some hobnobs and cakes so we have some goodies for lunchboxes. Also want to chill on the sofa for a bit tonight.
Oh yes and the lounge is in a permanent mess due to dd2's toys, and I don't know which ones she should part with as she likes them all.
Will be back on a more positive note next time I hope.0 -
Just when I thought I was winning!
Realised today that my darling OH has let an overdraft run up that he doesn't use and if we don't pay it back it'll keep going up. That's going to interefere with my loan, and also another small card that I totally forgot about that comes out of OH's account. I guess that's what happens when I check his bank account.
Seems he likes wasting money, not big amounts but they all add up. I told him I can't do this without him and that we spend more than we earn at the mo. (Thank god for my reserves) but that's not the point, I don't want to spend more than we bring in.
He appears to be on my level, but now I need to have a re jig and new plan of action. Thankfully it's still not over 3k in total because of what I have managed to pay off. So it's more of the same from now on, but with hopefully less spending.
I have four immediate family birthdays in july which I could do without. One is my dad's 80th so I have spent on his pressie, I'm hoping to get my niece a pressie and my mum from amazon vouchers and I've told OH he'll have to wait until aug, which I feel mean about but have to do.
Plans for July will be to get my bank account on a better keel, not skint yet but would be if we went on for a few months. I have set up a savings acc for car payments and presents / clothes now so each account will get a bit of money. I wish I had done this earlier but we live and learn.
I have tweaked my spread sheet and anything under budget at the end of the month will be chucked at debts.
DD2 will need new clothes when the weather gets colder as I went through her wardrobe earlier and realised that she has had a growth spurt. My plan there is to ebay some of the smaller bits now and use that money to buy bigger for her when the autumn range comes out.
I am going to really try with meal planning and keep the shopping down without depriving any of the family from anything nice.
Bit of good news is that I have £50 to come to me from a survey site and also OH's phone bill came in £10 under budget so those two are going straight to the loan as I still want to achieve that mini target before the end of the month. I have nearly £50 in paypal so I might squeeze the rest from my account. We'll see.0 -
Hello Yukkibear, just catching up on your diary! Sorry I've not been on for a few days! Well done for not going with your whim, we all have days when we feel like we're not acheiving and things aren't happening.... you're quite entitled to yours too!!
I feel your pain with the MIL!! Not the visitor you want when your having an off day and not feeling like making polite conversation.
I feel like that with our conservatory, our DD seems to have taken it over as some sort of play roomThere are days when I think, whats the point in trying to tidy it, she just comes behind me and pulls out what I've just put away.... love her dearly tho!
Keep your chin up and if you feel like a good old moan you know where we are, just pop on here and offload, always happy to listen! :A0 -
Sounds a nightmare with OH racking up the overdraft. Not good when you are spending lots of time trying to make things better and he does this. I hope you had a word!
You are doing brilliantly though and you will get there!0 -
Hey - stop beating yourself up! You're working so hard at this, that the occasional off-day is only to be expected. OH's shenanigans aren't exactly going to be helping either, let's face it! The plus point is very definately that you dealt well with the whim to go and spend - pat on the back for that!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks guys, I do feel more positive, and it was wierd when me and OH had a chat to be honest. I felt much better about things. I know my debt isn't as much as other people's and it's perfectly manageable so I will just keep tackling it.
I have OH's debit card (which he gave me) so that should put him in good stead for next month and then he said he's going to chuck any spare to the debts so that will help.
Need to do some ebaying later, but have to go get OH's hair cut ( even I am not putting up with a month from him not having that cut, I do have to be seen with him lol)
Shopping is coming this morning, but think I did a bad shop as it was in my bad patch but we'll see.
Next week I'm meal planning and WILL do a sensible shop.
EH hope you're ok, have been reading your diary, but couldn't find the words to post properly sorry.
Thanks wendz and cwc too
Have a good weekend everyone.0 -
Sorry its been a bit of a downer moneywise this week for you hun.
If you get on with Tesco clubcard it might be worth getting a clubcard plus, its like a pre-paid card, you top it up (can do it online via internet banking) and you get double points when you spend on it.
I have one too, also check out the paidtoshop forum for codes, there is a 750points at the moment on your first shop which is worth £30 in deals but its working on more than just 1st shops hun, I can send it to you to try if your planning an online shop anyway. Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
Hiya
Just catching up with your diary and sorry to see you have had a bit of a sh**e week, but like you say, it could be worse, so keep your chin up hun.
I love my Tesco Clubcard - join the other Clubs they have available - Healthy Living, Baby etc and you will get coupons for extra points. The points are fab. I renew our RAC family membership annually with it and last year OH got a gorgeous new watch from Goldsmiths - it was almost £300 but cost us nothing really as we used the clubcard vouchers. We would never have spent that much on a watch without the vouchers. The Clubcard Plus is really good, my sister has one and gets double points, I keep meaning to get one but never get round to it. Also, Tesco have their credit card at 0% for 6 months for balance transfers and 0% for 12 months on purchases. I applied on line and got accepted straight away. Might be worth putting your OH's overdraft on there perhaps?
ANyway, hope you feel better now. Off for a walk, well that's the plan but think we might have to drag each other off the sofa now! LOL

Thanks guys, I really feel so much better and focused about things now. I like the idea about swapping the overdraft to a 0%. Might have a think about that one.
Cheers Dawn will have to check that site out. I got a tenner off my shop but didn't look for a free delivery code which was daft. My shopping came in under budget though and I prefer the way they lay out their subs and the receipt than sainsburys do so will def be shopping more with Tesco.
OH also has a tesco garage near work so we'll get the points on fuel, but will look into maximising it elsewhere.
On a happy note tonight. I have some auctions finishing tomorrow and waiting on a couple of people paying me. Checked paypal and have £50 to withdraw tomorrow night, anything over is a bonus.
I also have just redeemed £50 from Dooyoo so hoping that comes in before the end of the month. I might just get this loan under 2k by the 30th after all.0 -
I have one of those tesco clubcard credit cards and I put everything on there and it is amazing how the points add up.
You are doing good YB I am sure you will get your loan to £2k by the end of the month.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.
