Thanks for your kind words Primula, they were lovely to read this morning.

Internet banking isn't looking too good this morning. I'm going to have to be so good next month to re coup the extra spends from last and this month.
Did have £13.60 from top cash back this morning so that has been chucked at the loan and I am going to the back after work this afternoon to pay in a few bags of spare change so it will bring it down slightly more but I fear that will be it for this month then.

I have had 2 nsd this week and planning on another today. Each day I have brought my lunch / dinner into work and it's tasted great so hope to keep that up.

Don't give up hope of being able to pay off that little bit more - how about eBay listings? Anything you can sell? If so that might bring in a bit more. Also have you checked your electricity / gas readings are correct and that you're not in credit at all? Looking further into the future - have you done things like LoveFilm trials via cashback sites? Remember to cancel in time if you do the monthly one and you can earn £15 through Quidco.

Something you said earlier about it needing to be "in real money, not vouchers or savings" - do you mean that where you cut back and don't spend something you otherwise would, you're not counting that as money that can go against the loan? If so, think it through - our mortgage OP's are based on just that premise - money we would not otherwise have - regardless of where it comes from - goes to the mortgage. As an example - your electricity DD is cut as you're using less than they projected - so you pay £10 p/m less.....so long as you feel that their new assessment of your use is right, then that extra £10 can be automatically added to the payment for the loan so you don't even see it going. That way, you don't miss having it either!

Thanks everyone. I think I needed a kick up the rear to get me going again. I had decided not to keep listing on ebay this weekend but I have just uploaded 7 new items and will relist lots.
I'm then going to list two bit things on free ads when I find them online more for the space rather than the money but it'll help.

EH what I meant by "real money" is that I don't like countig savings in shopping until the end of the month and if it's under budget for the whole month then I'll transfer it. I have just started spreadhseets to see this and then I will be able to set up overpayments to the debt and the hopefully one day the mortgage.
I think I mean by not adding savings is that I wont say oh I went to boots today and spent £20 but through deals saved £4 as I could have gotten away without going to boots anyway (hope that makes sense)

Yes, perfectly sensible! We're fortunate in this house - MrEH gets paid at the traditional end of the month, whilst I'm paid on the 15th (tomorrow! Yay! :j) and as we earn almost exactly the same amount, for budgetting purposes we work two weeks at a time. Over the years we have also sorted our DD's out so they come out in two batches - 1st - 3rd and 15th - 17th for the most part, again this helps to keep track of things. Another thing we've introduced is that we no longer use debit cards apart from to withdraw spending money - we use cashback credit cards which are set to pay off in full each month - as well as earning us a bit of cash over the year it also means that I can budget almost down to the penny over the month and so know ahead of time how much money I can transfer to savings at any given time. It's not a situation that works for almost anyone else though, that much I appreciate, and equally I know it's probably made it easier for me to get a grip on things.

Go for your life with eBay - nothing to lose if it's 99p listings anyway, and you never know, it might give you that bit extra to pay off!

I am thinking of getting a cash back credit card but not until I have all the accounts where I want them and that includes OH's who seems to waste £150 each month and still go overdrawn and not know where it goes!! He is my next target!

I have just got my tesco clubcard through the post yesterday (have always used nectar) but am going to give tesco a try and see where it gets me and if it's any better. I can also get £5 from topcashback for my first hop and I'm bound to find a deal somewhere which nectar don't seem to offer. There is also a tesco petrol station where OH works which he always seems to use so it kind of makes sense.

I am also going to check out my credit score through a cashback site and cancel any active credit cards from the past as I'm not sure what I still have and I don't want active ones floating around.

Two freeads listings done tonight though :)
