Really not had a good day today. Read the gas and electric metres and submitted them online. My electric was a lot lower than they estimated which was great until they phoned me and I checked again. I only read next door's instead!!! How did I manage that? We live in a mid terrace and next door's electric metre is opposite my front door and my electric meter is opposite next doors front door which makes no sense at all as we have to go onto someone else's property to access our own meters.
Felt stupid though after that.
Need to go to bed and get up and start again.0 -

Hiya yukkibear,
Sorry, but you did make me smile when I read what you did. We all have silly days though. A couple of weeks ago I booked OH a hotel online through Quidco to get the cashback, and what had I done but booked it for the wrong night! The hotel phoned him on his mobile asking if everything was ok as he hadn't shown up! They were really good though and didn't charge us and booked him in for the correct night. So I felt really really stupid after that one!
Also the meter men can get the readings wrong too re electric, I got my electric bill today, have been waiting for it for ages and dreading it too, as they have misread my meter - mistook a 9 for a 4 the last time resulting in me being 5,000 units out and them reducing my dd to £7 per month (if only). So, I have not used my tumble drier for the last 3 months, turned off all the unnecessary electrical items, like microwave on all the time etc etc. Anyway, got the bill in today after the correct reading taken and we owe them £595.99 . Have saved over £350 to pay it and the rest will go on my new zero percent cc. Calculated my correct usage though and it would have been £112 for the three months which for us is good, so now I am a washing line convert!
Sorry rambling on! Hope you managed to get your dads prezzie sorted out.

Ouch Primula. Glad you didn;t get charged on that hotel room, but bummer about the electric bill.
I know we all make mistakes and wierdly enough I don't feel bad about the BG thing as I'll just go and take the correct reading later and submit it again. They can think what they like. They're always messing me about so it's just payback time lol.
I haven't sorted my Dad's present no, and am really not sure what to do about that.
We're having a power cut today due to essential works, so we're off to the park this morning and then work for me this afternoon. Thankfully the sun is shining.0 -
£50.84 from paypal transferred over to loan this morning, and a £6.69 cheque paid into the loan account
Brings new signature very cloe to my end of the month target, and I'm waiting on a £50 cheque :j:j0 -
:T Well done yb. And when your £50 chq comes you will only need to find 79p and it will be down below the £2,000 - in how long? Well done. :T
Edit:! Just checked! In just a teeny weeny bit over two months. What an achievement. You deserve some chocolate!0 -

Well Done Yukkibear!! Thats fantastic!! I knew you could get it down below £2k by the end of the month, I had faith in you!! :T0 -
Thanks guys. I've just had some chocolate lol Primula. If my cheque doesn't arrive by the 30th, then I'm going to "borrow" it from my account and then pay t back when the cheque arrives as I know it's on its way so it's not really cheating.
Ebay is quiet, seems that way for everyone. Think I'm going to take July off to sort my own bank acc out and make sure I have enough money going to relevant emergency pots as the car tax stung me this month and I wasn't happy with it, so perhaps there will be less overpayments in July but you never know, we'll see what jumps out of the bag lol.
Off to work this afternoon, what's the betting it rains before OH comes home and my washing gets wet lol.
Primula do you have a diary? I looked but couldn;t find one.0 -
I don't have a diary, I am just nosey and read others and keep up to date with a couple - I have found your own diary inspiring and also flying fresians one. I have been thinking about doing one though, I have an interest free loan for furniture but I'd like to pay it off before the end date which would free up £44 per month, just been paying the minimum to it so far. Also have some money on a credit card (the Tesco one now though at zero percent) and will have to add to this a little on holiday, but hopefully not too much. However, it will probably be up to about £1,000. So basically I was wondering will a diary help me do what you are doing and pay off quicker, and I also wondered if it would help me be a bit more organised with meal planning etc, oh and housework, bl***y housework, I keep meaning to do a little housework every day so it's always nice and shiny and nice but somehow it never lasts, so maybe a diary would help there too! LOL. What do you think? You being an expert with your diary and all that? You've done so well and it is inspiring reading. Do you think it helps coming on and confessing all?!0

Personally I think the diary is best for me as if I write down for all internet to see that I want to pay £200 off in the next month for example, every time I think I can't do it, I think but I have to as I can't have everyone thinking less of me.
That might sound daft but it spurs me on. So many times through the last month I have just wanted to give the money making a rest and spend but I know it wont get me where I want to be, so somehow I have done it.
I think it's nice to look back and read how I did it as well, as that also inspires me.
I don't think it works for everyone, but I like to think that we all get something out of each other's diarys and use ideas and tips etc which help us all out for our individual goals.
Crapwithcash sent me over her spreadsheet template which I tweaked to suit my family and that has helped me no end.
The mortgage free diaries really inspire me and I keep reading them regardless that I am no where near in a position to do that yet, but it doesn't stop me seeing how people are doing it and working out figures for the future etc.
If you decide to get a diary, then let me know as I'll be there reading it.
Thanks for your kind words though, you always pick me back up when I'm feeling a bit demotivational.0 -
