My good news is that after sending out a load of cvs to different places, my boyfriend got offered a joiners apprenticeship last night in edinburgh :T . He wanted to change his job from web design to construction. This means I can definatly move down to Fife and I will be finishing the rest of my degree at Edinburgh University. Yay. Cant wait to move away from Aberdeen, it is so expensive to live up here. I have had a couple of good things happen over the last week...
Been offered a job and I start in three weeks. It's two grand more money a year than other similar jobs I've applied for, been looking for a job for nearly six months, I'm sooo happy! Me and my partner can now start to make plans to move into our own rented place in the next two or three months, as we're currently living with a relative and also start thinking more about our wedding plans! :j
Also completed an online discussion over three days for a survey company and got paid £35 for it... that's some money towards new work clothes sorted out then!0 -
Yay,
DS came home from Uni on Saturday night and he's managed to find a job for the summer :j
Good news for me because now I won't have to subsidise him like I did last year.0 -

Today, OH received a cheque from mopay.co.uk for 4 old mobile phones and was expecting about £30, but they were very generous and gave him over £47 for them!! My good bit of post a refund cheque from British Gas as our gas account was £74 in credit, so I was expecting that later next week, but it arrived today, just in time for my car tax renewal!!
I love it when the postman brings good things!! And there wasn't even a credit card bill today!!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109

Well, today is a good day and I wanted to share it with you guys. (No one else appreciates the little things that please as much!!)
Last night I got my new mortgage statement (changed mortgages last month) and I dont have to start paying til the end of the month, after the next payday.
So effectively I have a mortgage free month this month.
So today I trotted down to the bank to pay in £350 extra on my loan, good start.
Then I headed to good old wilkos where my fav shampoo and facial wipes were both on BOGOF's. Result.
Sad, but I came out of the shop grinning like a nutter.
Just little things make you feel like you are heading in the right direction.
Have a good day all. x0 -
I went into town today and got cornered by some lady asking me to do a survey. I wasn't too keen but she said I would be paid £5 for my time... so I snapped her hand off!
My dad has been painting my bedroom for me. He said he didn't want paying so I went to buy him some new clothes instead. Managed to get him 10 tops and it cost me £35... cheap at half the price!
And finally, have been using a savings account to pay a set monthly amount into for birthdays, christmas, MOT etc etc. I needed to withdraw some to pay for carpets and was amazed to see that I now have over £1K sat in there. Not very money saving not knowing exactly how much I have sat in the bank, but I was surprised and delighted!
Today has been a good one!
:heartpuls Cg :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
Today is also a good day for me. Firstly, had my appraisal and am being given a grand's payrise, which won't set the world alight but will ease things and mean a few extra pounds can be repayed each month.
Secondly, I'm getting a £250 bonus for some work I did on a special project (this was actually a radio series about debt and how people can get help, so it's nice and fitting that I'm getting extra money towards my own debts for doing it!).
And thirdly, had been feeling guilty about going to the hairdresser to have him correct some rather alarming highlights i'd been given at the local college (one cost-cutting too many, that one) and he was lovely and only charged me about half what he would normally because he obviously saw my pain!
What I'm most pleased about is that in pre DFW days i'd have scoffed slightly at a payrise of 'just' £1000, but now that I truly appreciate the value of each and every pound, I'm chuffed!
Days like this don't come along that often, but they make it worthwhile hanging in there between times!
