  • Have to share my good news. I have a cahoot current and savings account that i no longer use but the current account is overdrawn by about £459 so as i hadn't checked it in months logged in to today and discovered a plus balance of £167 in the savings account, balance was 53p last time i looked. I used to use the account as a stooze pot before the debts took over and they had paid me interest in July that i had totally forgot was due. Immediately transferred it to the overdraft so now only owe £291, brilliant.

  • My Good News,

Just come to the end of a 18 mth mobile contract.Hppy with my current tarrif & phone. Today had letter syaing if I agree to another 12 mths I can have a new phone (which I don't want) or a Sony PSP (which I don't want but those EBAY bells are ringing loud). Can't fault it, I was going to stay with them anyway!
  • Great thread - haven't seen it before.

My good news - just been paid my annual bonus and the net amount is a bit more than I estimated (in other words the tax and NI is less).

Before my LBM I would have been planning what to spend it on - instead it will pay off my overdraft and now I am working to a budget I should be able to stay OD free:j

And the "extra" will go towards one of my cc debts of course

See if there are any alternatives to the new phone, e.g. reduced rental for 12 months.

My good news, I received confirmation from the Student loans company that they have requested that the Inland revenue stops taking payments from my pay each month. The letter was dated 2nd September and they stated that it takes up to 42 days to action, so this month's should be last installment.
They also said that I have probably overpaid and so I should send in copies of my payslips since April to claim a refund.
Whoo hoo, this extra money will now go towards clearing my credit card in double quick time!

Absolutely! The trouble is 1/3 of my annual pay comes in the form of a bonus at the end of April and the muppets at the SLC cannot deal with this, as they can only give me my outstanding balance as at the end of March 2005. So I have had to keep on paying until they got my balance for the end of March 2006. I think I actually paid it off 2 or 3 months ago but the installments still went out. I just wonder how long it will take to get the overpayments back (should be about £500 by my reckoning).

  • I'm feeling quite a lot happier at the mo!

Although still in deep debt, I have just cleared my overdraft!

I had a Home insurance claim for a lost diamond ring, they have just paid up over 1K! I'm so chuffed... I can't justify getting a new ring right away, but I will when I've cleared my debts.

If I get my bank charges reclaimed (1.5K) before my court date in 2 weeks, I'll be ecstatic!

I hope the good news carries on :D It's not like me at all!

Just need my new business to take off now...will let you know when it's my launch date...
