  • Well, it's not quite the same thing, but I spoke to the company where my (long frozen) pension plan sits quietly minding its own business. The amount in the pot is currently £12,500, which was rather nice to hear. Of course it's no use to me whatsoever at the moment, can't touch a penny for 15 years, but it's nice to know it's there and untouchable. I also have 40,000 Accidental Death Insurance (fortunately they aren't queueing to push me down the stairs just yet!) which is a comfort - if something were to happen to me, it's good to know there would be something for the family. It would clear the debt that's in my name, but not the collective household debt. Would make a big dent overall though. Hmm, not really very cheerful is it?!

  • got a statement from British Gas for my Electicity last week and I noticed that I am £140 in credit with them. A quick phone call this morning and my monthly direct debits are being reduced by £10 per month and I have a lovely cheque in the post to me for £100 of the overpayment ( I have kept a bit of the overpayment in there for higher winter bills ). Thats another £100 to come off my credit card :j

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • I paid the last bit of my CC off today thanks to some overtime money. All my debt now is in one place - a 0% car loan. It is a really positive feeling knowing that this is the last one:j
