My good news is that thanks to following all the great advice & tips on MSE I was able to ring up for my 3rd budget review with CCCS since Feb & I've been able to increase my payment by about £180, so I'm now paying £529 a month to them :)
My first DFD was 2037, then it was 2014, now its 2011! (but the target I've given myself is 2008 so still working hard on the moneysaving to try & get closer to my goal)

And I got an invite for a free meal at the Wagamama preview (thanks freebie board!) in a couple of weeks, so looking forward to a rare night out!

I sold a textbook on amazon yesterday which nets me £35. (bought from a charity shop for 50p! Think I had better give them a cut of the profits!). Only fly in the ointment was swallowing / sniffing about a dozen fluffy plane tree seeds and nearly choking while walking to the post office in Russell Square to post the parcel. I HATE those trees this time of year! There are so many seeds and the wind is so gusty it is like snow falling at the moment in the Bloomsbury area... but more itchy yuk.

Also today I got my Family Guy 4 DVD and killer su doku book through the post which I ordered with my free £20 DVD.co.uk voucher. Yay!

Now if I can make it to the tube after work without swallowing any more seeds it will definitely be A Very Good Day!

My payday too!! Its been a monumental month for me with SO many changes. Despite having to set up (ie buy tupperware, coin counter, ledger, calculator etc), having £140 vet bills, haircut & chiropractor (a bad month!) I am still up £270 on my budget so more to pay into cards. For the first time since I was 16 (now 36!) I reached payday with no overdraft & have a total of 300 in savings (soon to go to cc accounts). I have paid off one credit card (egg) & hope to pay JPL off in full this month. I know where I am with my money. I feel more positive (most days) that I have for years and have generally been unbelievably good this month. I have found who my supporters are (finding you lot too!) & feel, for the first time ever possibly, in control - not just of my money but with food, alcohol and ciggies (ie have smokes about 1/2 as much & down to 3 a day on have & in a month have had 3 G&T's & 1 pimms)...all in all life is good!

  • My Good News is something that very rarely happens so a BIG thank you to Mr T's for their policies :rotfl:

Two weeks ago hubby and I bought a dvd at Tesco for 2.97, when we went to watch it a few days later it didn't work. As we normally shop in Asda it seemed like a bit of a hassle to trudge all the way to Tesco to take it back.

Well eventually last night (nothing better to do on a Friday evening - how sad!!!! lol) we took a little trip to Tesco and couldn't find the same film on their shelves. Went up to the cs desk and explained problem, didn't have receipt blah blah blah. Well you should have seen girls face on till :rotfl: She checked with me again I didn't have receipt, I said no, sorry but it was only 2.97. With a look of total disbelief she turned round and said well the till is scanning it at 17.99 so we have to give you that back :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Her colleague thought it was hilarious saying it never normally happens that way round and they practically chucked a gift card at me with 17.99 on it in case a supervisor came and over-ruled them lol :rotfl:

I love Mr T's. And the best bit is despite looking at the DVDs we couldn't find anything we wanted to replace it so we've got 17.99 to spend towards our shopping this week :D Happy days :D

Got new job with $3k higher salary in March, then got $1 an hour payrise at beginning of May! OH started new job, got 2.5% payrise this week, and his IT is trundling along (hopefully towards a settlement from his former employers).
DS1 has changed his course at Uni, DS2's passport arrived - only posted it on Monday! AND my free Elizabeth Arden blusher from Beauty Direct came today - thats going straight onto Ebay!

  • Well at first I thought it was the bad news thread for me.....
I'm swapping current accounts and a direct debit (that goes out once a year) got taken from the old account (no money there) just a day before they got the instruction to change details to the new account (more money there!)
Anyway, it was returned and I got a letter from old bank - it had a section saying about their charges but not actually clearly saying "we have charged you £x".
Also no charges showed on my account.

So, I thought I'll call them straight away and plead/beg/etc before they do it, you never know.

Anyway, lady I spoke said for some strange reason they've forgotten to charge me and doesn't mind leaving it at that! Result!

(but I will keep my eye on it in case they try and sneak it in!)
