My good news is that my OH finally got around to phoning Sky (after pestering him for 3 weeks!) and asked about cancelling.

They have given us a £7.50 per month deal for 6 months and have back dated it for this month! We'll save £81 on this and finally my OH is starting to see the benefit of being a DFW!! Good news indeed! :j

thats fantastic Hipkiss, thats brilliant news! well done & good luck for Monday! :j
  • My good news....

We were originally quoted £1229 for our car to be repaired, took it to another garage (recommended by someone) who quoted a max price of £1100 - so that is what I was expecting. It's been in a week longer than expected BUT the final bill was £790!!!!

So pleased - especially as hubby decided to wind me up on the phone and tell me it was going to be £1400 - nearly had heart failure!

Well done hipkiss on your new job, good luck for next week.

My good news for today is that back in September I started a Spanish course, but couldn't carry on with it due to family comittments etc. So the charge for the course was £140, my mum suggested that they may credit me, so I thought why not ask. So I did and they credited me £100, so I only had to pay £40. If you don't ask you don't get.

Also going on about the Avon again. Looks like my commission will be about £92, sales seem to be going through the roof and I have only been doing this for about 2 weeks. Also working out how many hours I have been setting aside for this and so far only 6 hours, so not a bad hourly rate. Still some time to sort out and deliver the goods, but still not bad.

Hope I haven't gone on too much, but a very good day all in all.

My good news is that i got paid today. I know everyone gets paid at some point but i got more than usual taking my pay after tax up to £1,000 :j

I just have to wait for the cheque to clear and then i can start moving the money around. I have re-activated an old halifax account that has a solo card and am thinking about using it for food shopping to help with budgeting. Can i use solo for Tesco online?

Yes you can no problems :D

  • Am feeling especially good today - thought I'd explain a bit....... :j

    I haven't had much of a light-bulb moment.....more of a dimmer-switch thing (getting brighter rather than dimmer I hope!)

I think that one thing that started me off on this money-saving stuff was it dawning on me just how much of money I had let slip to my bank over the years. I know my situation is not as bad as some but I just got to thinking that I've been in debt now for about 14 years, anything between £2000 and £5000. It gives me a bit of a heart palpitation to think of how much interest and bank charges this adds up to (I would never get as far as working this out..) but this anger is inspiring me not to let them have anymore of my hard earned cash!
Nothing earth-shattering has happened to get me in this debt - just a combination of laziness/disorganisation/head-in-sand. A few bad decisions here and there.

But I feel more motivated than ever to get myself out of this and really change my ways!

A couple of weeks ago, after some good advice about my credit file from some good people on this forum I FINALLY got myself a 0% card. Spurred on by this I thought what the hell, I'll go for the A&L account (which I got today!!! :T )
I've also been really analysing my spending - am trying the grocery challenge, have changed to cheapest providers - there are so many good ideas here!

So...... I know that the debts won't go overnight. But my good news is that they're going away a whole lot faster than they were!
    Thanks!
