Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thur 23nd April. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning Folks.engflag.gif Why not eh? English and proud. Except that is for our government. I see the chancelor has screwed us all over again. What is his thing with petrol tax? It has nothing to do with enviroment.

Overcast and dull here and getting worse. Had a great day fishing yesterday. We filled the boxes with fish and had a great day catching them. I have lots of fish fillet now to last a while.

Inquest today and then plenty of office work. Roll on the weekend.
Time to get the bins out, pack lunches made and animals fed.

Cheers
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Happt St Georges day, to those celebrating :T
Happy Birthday to Stefjb :bdaycake::bdaycake:have a great day sweetie

Another nice day here, we are being really spoilt at the moment with the weather,. I was in the garden till 7.30 last night, planted on 12 more runner beans, and re potted a huge agapanthas (sp), its so nice to be able to do it.

Two loads of washing were done last night, and have been on the line all night, they are a bit damp but will leave them out there today should dry.

Chicken and chips and tea tonight, nice and quick, maybe another wash to go on.
DD has GOT to take a white T-shirt in tomorrow, to cut up and paint on, now we dont have one old enough to do that to, ours are all quite good ones, so need to nip into Mr T to see if I can get a value one, they only told us yesterday , so no chance to get to the charity shop.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

Morning N9eav, Christabell & all who follow.

Cloudy here at the moment but it's going to get sunny later on apparently. Usual jobs this morning then going to the hospital with my parents this afternoon. Dad was offered a cancellation at another hospital for a treadmill test today :T He took it & the appointment is 1.30pm. They've asked me to go with them in case the test causes any pain etc so I can drive us all back.

Dinner tonight is sausages I'm not sure what with though yet. I'm leaning towards casserole in the slow cooker as I'll be out but I'll see how the mood takes me :D

((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) and Happy Birthday Stefjb :bdaycake: and to anyone else I may have missed recently. Have a good day.

    Morning all,
DH and I collected about 2/3rds of a tonne of stone y/day thanks to freecycle. The hill was so steep the van struggled to move, so the 2 women, who offered the stone, and I had to push it whilst DH struggled to drive it up the hill, don't think it did the clutch any good. Too exhausted to empty the trailer when we got home at 6pm.
I have to take DD2 to the Drs at 8.00 am and have DGD2 for the day. Must must vacume downstais and polish, managed to clean all windows y/day and clear the ironing pile.

DB2 :A is coming tomorrow and staying until Monday, his Lady friend is also arriving on Friday, DB2 lives in Dartmouth and she lives in Cheltenham. This will be the first time they will spend time together. Sooooo, to be diplomatic I have made up both dble bedrooms and leave the decision up to them as to how many are used.
DB2's wife left him 2yrs ago, he's been devistated and v depressed, so I am hoping this is a new start for him. He was married for 26yrs and had been totaly faithfull, so I can understand how nervous he is, iykwim. ;)

Must dash but need to add.

    LAMEWOLF, SUNNYDAY, POWIE (((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))

    Morning peeps

Happy Birthday Stefejb :bdaycake:have a lovely day and enjoy your camping trip.

I`ve just read the end of yesterdays thread and would like to send extra special ((((HUGS)))) to you Powie. Dingle has had a lovely life with you. It`s hard to "do the right thing" but i am sure in your heart of hearts that you made the right decision.

Betheebee - :rotfl:at you pushing the van. Be careful you don`t hurt yourself. Your post reminded me of when we had a van ages ago and DH took us fishing for the day, it was almost dark when we set off home with a van full of stuff and 2 huge german shepherds. The steep hill was gravel which had settled towards the bottom and the van just would not go up it. It just got deeper and deeper into the gravel as the wheels spun around. We were stuck for ages :D

Well the washing machine is almost finished so i`m waiting to get all the washing on the line, the dw is emptied and all the rest of the pots are washed and put away. The loaf is cooling on the rack and i`m struggling with myself not to tear a huge hunk off it and smother it with butter :o

Both houndies are here waiting for their walk and i have another cuppa mashing, it`s a tea day today - i`ve had 4 cups already

Today i WILL get the ironing done, the pile is now huge and is in danger of falling over. Tea tonight will be salad with tuna steaks marinated in soy sauce with coriander YUM! I shall cut the grass on the back garden and paint some more of the fence today too so my list of to-do things is growing by the minute. I`d better go make a start.

Happy St Georges day peeps, have a good one.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Happy Birthday Stef.
Belated birthday wishes to Lamewolf, Linzi and Pixiedust. :D

I haven't been around for a few days as I've been up to my eyes with housework and gardening. Spent yesterday afternoon helping at the school and then had a School Board meeting last night so it was a long day Followed by the shopping and an early night. ;) Was very cros as I defrosted mince for tea to have with tatties for a cheap and easy tea. Only when it went in the pan did I realise it was lamb mince which I was saving for moussaka.:o

    Today's plans are to

Get the girlies to the bus stop in a mo
Put away rest of the shopping done last night
    Empty DW and WM
    Sort out ironing
    Clean girl's room
    Rehang bedroom curtains
    Water plants in greenhouse
    Pay some bills
Pay in a few cheques to the bank
    Bake scones for afterschool
Make stuffed pork and veggies for tea.
    Take dog to the beach
    Clean out OH's car.

    :D

    Better go and start.

I Wish some of the oldies would come back. Like whatatwit, tatty cath, nels etc. ;) Where are you tru? :p

    Have a lovely day everyone.

Today I am celebrating the fourth anniversary of my 39th Birthday - I love being 39 so much that i'm sticking with it for a bit :) N9aev - when i was a very little girl i was convinced that the st george cross was my special birthday flag as my mum told me that the church had put the flags up for me :) So far I,ve had a Brentford mirror from dsoninlaw but everyone else is going to contribute to a walking gps thingy just as soon as i've worked out which one to get - they get a bit worried about me when i'm off walking as they,ve seen me try to navigate on car journeys - "Is that a proper left or a Mum Left?"

Spending the weekend camping in the New Forest - just me and a bottle of medicinal brandy for my coffee - looking forward to a bit of peace and quiet. Have brilliant days and weekends all

    stef
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Morning all:wave:

    Happy birthday Stef-have a good 4th anniversary of your 39th birthday:D

I'm planning a day at home. I shall go for a walk (armed with antihistamine due to my exercise allergy-see yesterday's post:rotfl:) after dropping off dd. Then I shall make some bread, do the ironing and clean the bathroom and loo.

I'm expecting an Amazon delivery some time today. I hope it arrives in time for my coffee break. Looks like I'll be able to enjoy my books in the garden today.

Tea tonight will be trout, asparagus/peas and new potatoes with hollandaise sauce (from a jar). Yum yum.

My younger son is not talking to anyone today. He and elder son had a major falling out over the flaming wii yesterday evening:rolleyes:. They were playing a game together and ds1 was losing. He is an appallingly bad loser and got very abusive towards ds2 who in turn started swearing at ds1 (bad swearing). Ds1 ended up punching ds2. The result was that they were both sent to bed really early and OH has taken the power source thingy for the wii to work with him:rolleyes:

Anyway ds1 is fine with all of this, he gets over things quickly and has a philosophical outlook on life. Ds2 is consumed with the injustice (as he sees it) of the situation and has sent everyone to Coventry, even dd who was in bed at the time of the incident.

OH thinks we need to get a book on disciplining teenagers:rolleyes:. I don't think we do, I think we managed the situation perfectly well. They've both learnt their lesson:confused: it isn't as if we have these problems often.

I wonder if ds2 will have forgotten all about it by the time he comes home or whether some other terrible injustice will have happened to him at school to compound his misery.

    Morning Folks

Woke up before 6 am - think I need to adjust my clock back to UK time:eek:

:bdaycake: Stefejb and anyone else celebrating
Must get bum in gear today, as have all clothes I brought back to sort out, (its laid on DS's bed and he is due home this weekend:rolleyes:) and get some stuff back in the 'van before the first trip this year next weekend. Have to sort the clothes out as I have a 3 size wardrobe, and the larger end is now too big:j:j:j.

Will put a spicy fruit loaf in the BM soon, for DH of course, who likes warm B(r)e(a)d:o.

Continue with a clean through, I think DH may give the bathroom/ensuite to do while I sort out the "flutters".

Glad you had a nice break with Pink-W, H-J - I'm with you on come back all those MIA.

Pen-pin and all others not up to par :grouphug:

    Take care - DG
