I started following someone on Twitter called MartinLewisMSE and he's now following me! But is this the real Martin Lewis...? He's never actually posted any twitters but seems to be following hundreds of people so I'm rather sceptical.

There are plenty of people on Twitter who aren't who you think you are... Think I might register myself as Lord Lucan ;)

I noticed that my weather station software supported twitter so I registered an id. My thrilling content (temperature, wind direction etc.) seems to be a babe magnet - I keep getting emails telling me I'm being followed by young ladies who are keen to publish their latest sexual exploits (you do need to be quick though as for some inexplicable reason twitter keeps banning these poor young girls).

I don't think that is the real Martin Lewis. Following everyone who follows you but never tweeting is off twitter behavior. Plus no mention on here of him having Twitter account.

My sister is a university librarian and she's had to do training courses on Twitter! I started using it at her suggestion, she gave me a link to this website which is useful for newbies: http://philbradley.typepad.com/phil_bradleys_weblog/2009/01/twitter-your-first-24-hours.html

Have also found this useful to discover if the celebs are real or not: http://valebrity.com/ Recently started following Bill Bailey, his updates are worth a read too!

And anyone with children, you'd better start using it cos they're going to be learning it in primary schools soon: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7962912.stm

Surely most peoples lives are so boring and mundane so as not to be worth publicising in such a facile way?

    Or is it just me?

You'd be amazed how mundane most celebs' lives are too! Valebrity enables you to see this, and it's a welcome antidote to bring us all back to reality.

It's the most inane, solipsistic, pointless piece of drivel ever invented. Utterly soul destroying to see the descent of human literature into this.
