And it is used a LOT by internet marketers - and spammers as somebody else already mentioned - and if you blog, you can also tweet links for your new updates to your followers, while also getting a backlink (I don't think links are 'nofollow' on there) for an added bit of off-site SEO.______________________________Darth Traderusing the Force of Compoundingsince a long time ago...0

They are like chalk and cheese, Phorm scans packets and supposedly removes any identifying data to the original user, creating a profile and they allowing targeting ads and other sorts of material to be based on it.
Twitter you choose to say a short phrase (or not), not upload your entire internet traffic / visits for the week.0 -

One is a blogging service and one is an invasive targeted advertising system, so they're rather difficult to compare.
However, the main difference is that one is voluntary and one is not. Your ISP doesn't upload your movements and deepest darkest thoughts onto twitter. However, they may very well allow Phorm to intercept your internet traffic.
I don't think anyone has a problem with Phorm itself, merely its implementation. If people want to allow Phorm to send them targeted ads in return for £1 off their broadband subscription (or whatever), then fair enough. There just shouldn't be an automatic presumption that we're all fine and dandy with it.0 -
