They have a pile of these in my local PCWorld, but are trying to sell them for 360.

Do you think they will sell me one for 199 if I take a copy of the web page into the store?

PCW stores will price match the website but you have to be insistant as they are losing their bonus and will try to sell you at full retail !

  • None in either of the Northampton Currys stores, or in the Northampton PC World store :(

EDIT : According to the PC World central helpline there is no stock in Bedford, Luton, Cambridge, Leicester, Luton or Peterborough either.

According the the Currys central helpline they have none in Bedford, Kettering, Luton, Milton Keynes, Hemel Hempstead or Coventry ( and a few others i missed as the names were rattled off pretty fast ).

Looks like these PC world managers are being c**ts keeping them to themselves, or selling at higher prices.

Has anyone other PC world managers and PC world staff managed to get one? I doubt it. But looks a very good deal and I would have gone out to PC world if I saw this earlier. I might go tomorrow armed with the PC world site printout.... Although from what OP said looks like Leeds Centre, Leeds Beeston Ring Road and Bradford Forster Square are likely to be out of stock if nearest quoted was Hull.

The spec says TV out on the PCI express card?!

To anyone who has tried to get this and the manager has said it was broken...

I suggest calling PC world directly to complain about the store managers. Tell them they were clearly witholding stock and you believe this is unacceptable and intend not to shop at PC world again or something like that.

You of course cannot prove the item was not broken, but if PC world investigate it using their system they will either see that a) the store manager bought it themselves or b) it was put down as damaged stock and either disposed of or sold appropriately. This is where the managers are likely to be proven liars. So complain, be persistent and insist they check the stock system for that store. If PC world take the complaint seriously the manager may even be reprimanded or sacked (wishful thinking). The managers don't expect you to complain, so I suggest you do.

Also perhaps try watchdog. If they get enough people complaining about this, they may make a bit on it and approach PC world to ask about this issue.

I managed to get one at the Chichester store, although they nearly got away with not giving it to me because they could not find the recovery CD and thats a legal requirement apprantley, I wasn't going to drive 35mins in the car and get up early to come home with nothing.

Although, I can imagine that managers are keeping them by. Beat them with a stick and run out the store with it. :p

And if this one happens ask them to sell it as incomplete at a reduced price and you won't tell anyone they broke the law. Lol.

I tried to get a reduced price but the manager wasn't having any of it, gave me a free wireless keyboard and mouse instead, which I don't even need!. I did get 10% off with my UCAS card tho, £178 :D
