Their correspondence mentions credit ratings and debt collection.
Credit ratings can only be affected AFTER you have been to court, lost, and still not paid up. This will never happen as CP Plus do not do court.
Debt collectors are not bailiffs and have no power to do anything.
Ignore them.0 -
Today I've just received a Parking Charge Notice in the post from a company called CP Plus Ltd. It alleges that my vehicle overstayed a 2 hour parking limit at a Moto Services. It's requesting a parking charge of £80. It offers a £30 'discount' if paid by 1st May.
I has the normal blurb about photographic evidence and the threat legal proceedings against me if I fail to pay! Etc Etc.
I have read a number of threads and from the advice given I intend to ignore it.
Just want to make sure I am doing the right thing and see if anyone else has had dealings with this company.
Thanks in advance
As a veteran of CP Plus tickets myself since 2010, I and several others who receive these "documents" use the paper to make toy airplanes!!!
If you read the various threads, you have nothing to fear as you are dealing with rogues who are acting unlawfully. They will NOT take you to court, I received either a CP Plus or a ParkingEye ticket for every day in March and April this year. So far they have taken me to court somewhere close to zero occasions.
Advice: next time you receive a letter from Borhamwood, Herts (it will be CP Plus), don't open it - write on the envelope "Return to sender; addressee has left" and they won't chase you again on that one allegation.0 -
We would really appreciate any advice.
Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Police, or TransportforLondon, or a Council (and very rarely a railway bylaws ticket if issued by a Train Company). All others are scams including hospital issued ones. Of course you must NOT pay it!
You probably stumbled upon this old thread by an internet search, and perhaps think it's a one-off thread? No, here's the whole board, almost every case is talking about private parking charges:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163
There are over 100 pages of posts there, almost all telling people like you that they can safely ignore companies like CP Plus. They just send out debt collector threatening letters, nothing more, no Court, no Bailiffs, no effect on your credit rating by ignoring this scam.
Most of us on here have ignored PPC tickets - honestly they must NOT be paid, it would be like sending money in response to a Nigerian Lottery winning email!
See this info on PPC tickets and make sure you view the Watchdog youtube link linked under the 'Private Parking Companies' title:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=1363571
Watch and laugh as the Watchdog legal chap makes his ticket into a paper aeroplane - like yours, it's a fake PCN with a pretty picture of a car on it (so what). And then read as many posts as you can to on our forum - from that first link above - until your eyes glaze over with boredom at seeing the word 'IGNORE' yet again.
Hope that's clear. By the way, it was all copied and pasted from my reply a few posts up this page, from a year ago which I had copied again only last week, just above where you posted.
Nothing has changed and the answers are already here on the links.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Actually Coupon-Mad, not even that. They tend to send out an initial invoice and that is followed by one or two reminders should the document be ignored and that's about all. They may use debt collection groups for some of their other contracts but the motorway services are just the standard "you breached, you must pay..." followed by "reminder, you now owe..." and possibly a "final reminder - you were told twice, this is your last chance, if you don't pay this much now by this date, we go to these people who go to those people and then we get a court order and then if you don't pay they send bailiffs"... yeah, like they go that far!0 -
Hello,I too have fallen victim to PC PLUS parking fine saying I must pay £80 or £50 before a certain date for being parked at Toddington services for more than 2 hours. It was 3.15 in morning I was shattered after a 18 hour shift and did as the matrix sign suggests "DON'T DRIVE TIRED" pulled into a service station and had a rest. Unfortunately for me I snoozed for more than 2hrs and picked up a fine. Who's on who's side here?? obviously MOTO services, PC Plus and the police have done scientific research to realise the human body only needs exactly 2hrs sleep to fully recover and be fit to endure another 120 miles of Sh*t motorway. What a load of boll*cks! I phoned and asked to see the photographic evidence and why the hell doesnt someone come along to wake me and send me on my way (stupid question I know, coz they want to rape us of every penny we've got, including the coffee prices). basically does it work to ignore the fine "who are PC PLUS are they a call your bluff company?" In future I'm gonna rely on rumble strips to wake me
I too had a very similar experience, when going on holiday with my family. advertising and signs always telling you that tiredness kills so take a break only to find if you go over two hours and do not pay £10 for 24 hours stay you recieve a bill for £80. having read through a few items posted on this forum it appears companys such as cp plus ltd have no power to enforce these charges and are relying on scare tactics to defraud motorists of money. I have a link to a GOV e-petition that will hopefully acrue enough signatures to raise the issue in parliament. this can be viewed on e petitions 11878.
These firms are chancers and I believe for every person who makes a stand and doesn't pay the charge, there are probably dozens that do out of fear of further charges, court summonses, CCJ's etc.0 -

There are, so make sure you tell all your family, friends, colleagues etc about this scam. It is the only way to destroy these parasites.0 -
Please help us all stick it to the man and join my Facebook campaign to help fight back against these companies that bully the unsuspecting into parting with money that they can't afford to lose.
Go to Facebook and search for "Say no to Moto" and you will be able to help us fight back.
Thanks

Welcome to MSE... but you found this TWO YEAR OLD thread by Google didn't you?
There's a whole parking forum out there and it's just one click away. See my signature under this reply and it tells you where to click on the breadcrumb trail at the top, to see the current parking forum.
Of course you don't pay but you need to get off this ancient archive thread - so please click one click to see the current parking forum.
If after reading the threads on page one, you still have a query, just use the big blue 'new thread' button you will see at the top of the parking forum. It's not on a random old thread like this for obvious reasons.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Dear Sir/Madam
I thank you for your email addressed to CP Plus Appeals.
CP Plus Limited are duly accredited with the British Parking Association and all of our protocols and practises are in accordance with their regulations, in respect of which we are regularly audited by them.
I note the extensive questions which you have raised and I do not propose nor do I have any obligation to respond to those questions that you have posed. I would reiterate that we are members of the BPA and are fully cognisant as to what we may or may not do when seeking to enforce a PCN.
It would seem that as we are clearly diametrically opposed in this matter there is little or no point in either of us entering into further protracted, unnecessary correspondence and we will each no doubt take such course of action as we both deem appropriate.
Yours sincerely
Samantha Wright
