Thanks guys, have had a look with google street view and chaterhouse park looks nice and quaint, could be the trick.

Was wanting to try and get a string quartet set up for her, so they could be there in preperation but think its too hard to do/organise/expensive

I asked her dad when we were moving in together that it would be ok, so think will ask him about marrying her

It is killing me, just thought it would take me longer to plan things than it has, I hope i dont ruin the surprise.

Not rang the hotel, yet, going to ring closer to the time, see what possibilities are, my little sister works in London, and thinking of ways to rope her in to help me, set up the room etc

Why don't you ring the hotel and ask if they would mind your sister going into the room just before your arrival and get her to take ballooms, rose petals anything else romantic (probably cheaper than the hotel doing it) and then ask her when you get the room, all done and dusted in private then you can get on and enjoy the rest of your day?

I surprised my daughter on her 18th with some friends from Wales arriving that she didn't know were coming and all the hotel staff enjoyed being in on the secret.

A friend proposed to his wife by setting up a treasure hunt activity. He put the clues down the previous week and they went on a walk in some hills doing this treasure hunt. The last 'clue' was the proposal. It obviously worked! Maybe you could you use the idea to visit the sights of London?
If you're thinking about proposing after dinner, pubs and bars will most probably be packed around 10/11pm so avoid them.
I'm sure she'll say yes with all the time and effort you're putting into all this...you obviously love her very much.

    I proposed!

I was planning to do it down in London, as per all the posts above but somehow it happened on Friday!

Fiance is going in for an operation on Tuesday and Wednesday and was all stressed and concerned, did not know how long she would take to fully recover and was all down.

I had planned for it to happen in London, but on Friday it just felt right, the sun was splitting the stones, having a day off together, we were talking about our future and plans and things, and felt so close to her.

It wasnt romantic in the traditional sense that I was planning, but felt even more special as it just unfolded, we went and choose a lovely ring, ended up getting a 1.33 CT, VS1 G ring, which was bit more than I wanted to spend, but we both loved it, went an showed the family and all.

So we are going down to London, and having a relaxing weekend, no need to be rushing about lookign for the ring, as have a beautiful fiance with a beautiful ring.

I thought I would be diappointed as was wanting to give her a perfect day by doing a,b and c; but I realised that a perfect day happens, it is not made

I am sorry for everyone putting in sweet thoughtful suggestions and now I cant take advantage of them as such, I hope you will forgive me (will try and put up ring pics for you to see)

Thanks for all your help, still planning on going for a picnic and stuff in london so will take your suggestions for then

    Thanks again

Congratulations! You sound like such lovely people I'm sure you will be really happy together....will you ever confess to this thread? I'm sure your fiance'd love you even more knowing how much thought and planning you put into the whole proposal thing for her but somehow it's even more romantic that the time was just right for you at different time.

We'd not only like to see the ring but your fiance wearing it....I think we all feel that we've enjoyed being part of the secret and I for one have had a few smiles in otherwise depressing days just thinking of all the plans you were making x

Every good wish for your future life together!
You'll make my day if I know I've been helpful to you in some small way,
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x
