You sound like a lovely fella, she is a lucky lucky girl. Good luck and don't forget to keep us up to date.0 -
Thanks lol, I feel like I'm the lucky one
I'm just hoping she says yes;
Was on google street view to try and see any nice little places round the hotel but no luck0 -
The millennium bridge might be another option - it's about a 20 minute walk from where you're staying. And it does signify the beginning of a new era. I fogot - there are also some lovely gardens at st pauls where you might find a nice spot to do the deed. Then pop to Paternoster square for a celebratory glass of champagne. Then once you buy the ring - if you have any wonga left, try clerkenwell house on hatton wall. It's a VERY cool place for a bevvie. i think its website is https://www.clerkenwellhouse.com

Oooo, I love a romance!
You sound like a lovely chap and I wish you both all the best.
There will be no problem in leaving your luggage at the hotel, we always do this when we are arriving very early or checking out long before our flight.
Dummy ring is a great idea
Do let us know how it is received
I don't know how you are going to contain yourself until then though - you must be so excited!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
congratulations and the very best of luck! I too always leave my bags with the hotel and theres never really a problem. Its a shame you have already booked a hotel as there is one at tower Hill thats AMAZING I was there last month and they do everything for you, even a rubber duck for the large bath! My oh got a bottle of wine and chocolates included in the room so when we arrived it was sitting there chillded - such a nice surprise and this is something that the hotel offer up!
Hyde Park is a gorgeous place for a walk and might be nice to propose there? London eye is pretty special, Id say dont go on it though (its boring anyway) but gorgeous to walk to at night when its lit up, this place holds special memories for me and my oh - maybe proposing at night under the twinkling lights of the London eye and the glazening of the Thames would be the perfect way to end the evening?
Whatever you choose I wish you all the best of luck! Let us know how you get onLife is what you make it.0 -
Congratulations. It's obvious that the age of romance isn't dead.
Looking at your plan for the 2 days, it seems as if you won't propose until the end of the first day. Why wait until then? Why not do it earlier? You want to be able to enjoy the day as well and nerves may get to you as the anticipation builds up. You could contact the Lyceum and see if they could help you out with something special?0 -

my thoughts too,god forbid you might have a little tiff oversomething silly if you are acting strangely.0 -
Here's some practical advice for you. Do you have an idea of where you will go choosing the real ring? If so, call ahead and speak with the manager. Let him/her know your budget and when you get there with your fiancee you'll only be shown the rings that fall into your budget. How awful would it be if you both fell in love with a ring that you couldn't afford!! (Happened to me, my DH ended up trading some of his old jewellery in for it too - took the romantic shine off the moment...)0

Hi again,
Thanks for all the advice. I was thinking about doing the proposal earlier, but I don't know where etc, thinking at night its quieter, can be prettier and would allow her to enjoy London - also was thinking if I did she would want to spend the whole two days in Hatton Market. And not see any of London.
I am bad a keeping things secret so this is a challange for me but feel she is totally oblivious.
Her sister got married and she was looking at her ring and was like that's huge and expensive. It was 1500 so I think that should be safe as budgetting for double
I need to say to her sister as need to get her to distract her so I can take her parents for dinner and ask them.
Thanks for all the ideas and good wishes. Will keep you posted when it happens. Until then I will still need to cherry pick your great ideas0 -
aww what a lovely thought asking her parents - I didnt know people still did that! So thoughtful! Just make sure her sister and parents are good at keeping secrets!Life is what you make it.0
