Countdown til I propose

Hi,
As usual I am on here, hoping for some ideas and some help from fellow MSEr's.
I have booked flights to go down to London, on the 21st June, Longest Day of the Year, booked Malmasion London Deluxe Room. I am going to propose to my girlfriend, but dont quite no how to do it.
Not as in I dont know what to say, but more what to do. I am planning on going to Hatton Gardens to buy the ring, as I am lost as to what to get her, been round every shop in Glasgow and feel variety is not great, got a £3000 budget so I know roughly what type of ring she likes but want her to see the ring and fall in love with it, and that is much easier of she sees it and then I buy it.
However this means I will have to propose with a 'dummy' ring and then take her to Hatton Gardens, should I propose on the Sunday Night and take her shopping on the Monday?
I would like to do something romantic for the proposal, as she has stood by me and by god she deserves it, dont want cliches London Eye, would love a picnic or similar but as I live in Glasgow and going to London hard to organise? Dont want a showy showy proposal as want it to be sentimental and true to us.
The hotel is near hatton gardens, islington I think, is there any nice places round there?
Hope someone can help me,
Many Thanks

Congratulations! I think it's a great idea to go to Hatton Gardens together...very romantic!
How about Regents Park or Hyde park as a spot to propose? Both are huge and will have secluded areas for picnics. You can also hire rowing boats in Hyde Park...

They're pretty easy to get to from Islington. Use the London Transport planner, to check the best tube/ bus. Maybe call Malmaison and ask them about transport too...

I love the rowing boat idea. Personally I would not worry about a fake ring, how about having a bottle of champagne & a couple of the plastic wine glasses & pour her a glass of champagne then as you pass it to her ask her to marry you.0

Islington has some interesting little side streets and antique stores, but London's also filled with little off the beaten track type places as well as the giant parks.
Call the hotel. They should have some interesting ideas for you...Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

How about a boat ride down the thames to Grenwich then a picnic in Grenwich park? You'd both be nice and relaxed and feeling romantic after the boat ride and Grenwich is lovely.0

The practice ring is a lovely idea, my OH did this and chosing the ring together was so special
Ill never forget the day

How about phoning the hotel and asking them to arrange a picnic basket for you, explain what you're planning and they'll be falling over themselves to help you:D:D
Getting your gf to pick the ring is a great idea unless you know exactly what she wants.....I gave my dh a very detailed description of what I wanted spread over a 6months, thank god he paid attention:rotfl:Debt [STRIKE]£52,656.60[/STRIKE]_pale_£41273.42:)

Imagine, it would be a fortune if they made the picnic up - but suppose what else could I do, maybe be able to buy stuff from nice little lunch shop nearby?
Yeah, I know whta she wants 'I think' but be nice to kill two birds with one stone, and go away somewhere nice and get a nice ring0 -
Defo propose with practice ring, then tell her you can go shopping the next day. Similar thing happened to me. He asked me with a £5 ring from Argos, but told me hed booked for us to go to birmingham for the weekend to go proper ring shopping.
I was so pleased that he actually had some sort of ring to ask me withGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -
I got a dummy ring, and we love going to pick the real ring together!
Maybe a cafe near by could make a picnic up for you?
By the time my h2b had got around to proposing he'd already sorted out the guest list, seating plan and his suits! which i thought was really unfair, I wasn't allowed to talk about weddings and he'd started planning before me!
Enjoy your moment!0
