Countdown til I propose

Hi,
Congratulations firstly! My husband proposed in London in March 07 with a fake ring from Argos in Trafalgar Square. I think he had been looking for an opportunity to do it all day, and hadn't planned it to the detail that you had, and as it was 7pm at night and we were on the way to see Evita, he was running out of time! He too didn't want anything to cliched/predictable.
That was on the Friday night, and the following day we went to Hatton Gardens and went ring shopping. After a few hours of looking at jewellers, I just picked one as there are far too many to choose from and I was concerned that our break was passing us by! It's just confusing after a while ha ha.
I am sure that the hotel will keep your bags for you - we stayed in the Hilton Metropole and they were happy to do so. Also, we went to see The Lion King in New York on honeymoon last year, and it was brilliant, so I am sure you will enjoy it.
There are plenty of M&S's around too, so even if you haven't managed to arrange a picnic, you could nip in and get a nice salad/fruit salads etc from there which is easy and not too dear.
Are you flying Ryanair from Prestwick? We usually do this and get the Standstead Express train to Liverpool St. You can store your bags there too. Probably not as cheap as the Easybus though.
We actually went back to London last August and went back to Hatton Gardens to buy our wedding rings!
Good luck!

Hi,
I think I may just drop the bags at Liverpool street in the morning as is only one stop from Barbican and Hatton Gardens and collect them after, but hopefully hotel will deal with that
For all the rushing we will be doing, I would rather have a relaxing activity to propose, but think I may end up proposing in the street if I find it quiet for a few minutes lol
Thinking after Lion King, if nice day, go and sit in park with some salad or something from M & S
It is weeks away so hopefully will have everything organised0 -
please remember to come back and give us all the details! I'm so excited for you :j0

Hi
Just read this thread. There is actually a little square right near the hotel you are staying in where you could propose. Or St Pauls is only 5 minutes away. You could climb to the top and propose there. Hmmm! let me get my thinking cap on. there are lots of places near to Smithfields that are quite romantic, including a little church garden where some of the film 'closer' was filmed.
Save me from spending...

That sounds ideal, as I do not know the lay of the land, I don't know any little secret places, St Pauls sounds lovely as well, and other places you think of I would be indebted to know them0 -
How about on the London Eye, wouldnt be private unless you spend a fourtune on a private flight but I think it would be a lovely place to be proposed to.0

I just think the london eye if not a private flight would be so expensive. And maybe bit cliched.0

If you have the time, take her on the express lift to 5th floor at Harvey Nicholls and have a champagne cocktail in the bar. Fanatastic venue but not at all snobbish. My Mum and two sisters and I were there last weekend and the staff could not have been nicer. Took photo of us all together.
£13.50 per cocktail but we only had the one.
Only about 3 stops on the underground from Picadilly Circus to Knightsbridge.0 -
Like that idea, don't know if I could get to the lift without her seeing things should want want0
