Countdown til I propose

It is killing me, just thought it would take me longer to plan things than it has, I hope i dont ruin the surprise.
Not rang the hotel, yet, going to ring closer to the time, see what possibilities are, my little sister works in London, and thinking of ways to rope her in to help me, set up the room etc0 -
When are you planning on popping the question? I bet you're counting down the days! You seem to be putting a lot of thought and effort into the proposal so i'm sure your girlfriend will say yes!! Do you know what you're gonna say? You gonna go down on one knee? My proposal was quite funny, was just standing in the kitchen and DF just blurted out nervously "you gonna marry me then?" LOL. FAR from romantic, but better out than in, eh? hehe0

I plan on going on one knee, talk about how she has been a rock to me, how I can't promise everyday will be plain sailing but that everyday I will look after, cherish, support, and be honored to have you as my wife
Is it the left hand you put the ring on, serious question as not sure. Sure its the left but would hate to put it on the wrong one.0 -
Hi there,
wow how romantic are you....I really hope it all goes well for you. I actually live in Islington so if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I was thinking about where you could pop the question and there is a place called Alexandra Palace and the views from there (whole of London) are just breath taking lots of green so you could have your picnic and pop the question day or night it looks really nice and they have a bar aswell. The W3 bus from Finsbury Park will take you stright there.
If i think or see anywhere else I'll let you know.
Regards

I;m nearly in tears here, that is SOOO romantic!! Tempted to ask OH to try proposing again as i feel cheated :rotfl:
Its HER left hand that you put the ring on, the finger next to the pinky
Just realised the caps looks a bit weird..I put it in caps for you to remember that you will be facing her, probably stating the obvious, but better safe than sorry hehe0 -
Hi Eco,
Just popped back on as couldn't remember when you were proposing and wanted to know how it went! Still waiting ha ha.
My DH asked my parents permission, they told my brother/sister in law that it was happening. DH had also told his parents of his plans, and asked a few of my friends for advice. This was the biggest disappointment as I had no-one to tell once it had happened! They all knew before me, so it was a slight anti-climax. Might be worth bearing in mind.
Also, he carried the ring about in the box in his pocket all day and said it was a nightmare as he had to keep switching it if we changed sides! I think ditch the box, or do it as early as possible.0 -
Hi,
Not sure when you were going to London - if not yet good luck! I work just round the corner from the Malmaison - so if you need local info let me know.
FYI - there is a caluccios about 2 mins walk, and they do fab picnics. There is also an M&S food near Farringdon Station.

Not getting engaged until the 21st of June. Wish I could do it all now though. Thanks for the help. Is there any nice parks near the hotel?0

Charterhouse Square is right opposite the Malmaison. Also, Postman's Park is 5 mins walk - on St Martin's Le Grand (between the Museum of London and St Pauls). Lots of gardens and places to sit in the Barbican complex.Married MSE style (sort of) 9/10/10 :j0

just been to hatton garden to pick my real ring today (if you want recommendation of a great shop...)but now my dummy ring looks really dull

This whole thread is so exciting!! my opinion don't tell her friends, it was so much fun calling them at midnight and telling them!! and don't ask her Dad, my OH and i own a house together and have lived together for ages. we didn't ask my dad permission when we moved in together or bought a house together it would have been very strange if my OH had asked his permission then!
use google street map and look for nice places, there are loads of little court yard/square gardens (Gorden Square, soho square) that are close to lots of places but really private, perfect for picnics!0
