Never heard of the KODO ones before but by chance saw them on a shopping channel the other night selling for £14.99 plus P&P for 2 pairs, I was tempted but surely they cant be any good for that kind of money.

I'm still after getting the best price I can on a pair of GHD's on Frizz's recommendation :D

GHD are really only the best because 1 - they are ceramic and 2 - they heat up to a VERY high tempertature (which is awful for ur hair if u dont make sure u look after it v v well!).
I wanted GHD's but my partner got confused and bought me a pair of Futura straightners from a salon, they are great though!!! only about £30 cheaper though.
I think i will go for Ghd's when i eventually need to get a new pair, but i'd def go to a salon for a discount or look on ebay first.

I recently got some Nicky Clarke straighteners which are £23.99 in Superdrug with an RRP of £80 (I'm sure I read somewhere that's how much they are in Boots), anyway I've not tried tried GHD (I was so tempted though). The Nicky Clarke ones are fab IMHO & have 3 temp settings of 160, 180 & 200 (c I assume?) & they glide really well through my hair & it also looks great the next day-perhaps a good compromise?

I used to have 'normal' (£40) mid range ceramic straighteners and always thought that they were fine, they did the job required of them. My friend was going on and on about GHD's and I always used to say that mine were just as good.

I couldn't think of anything that I wanted for my birthday this year so decided to ask for some and now I don't know how I lived without them. Anyone who says other brands are just as good has obviously not tried GHD's, they really are worth the extra money. Mine were bought from https://www.saloneasy.com They were £75 + p&p, and were sent by special delivery which is guaranteed next day so your daughter won't have to wait for them either.

I use Fransen and can recommend them- the ceramic ones cost about £50 and heat up quickly (but not as fast as GHD) I bought them from hair products online.
They've now resolved the problem with the spring in the handle (if scissor action ones) packing in after about 1yr.

You need to be sure you use some product to protect your hair from the heat, especially if its coloured. I've been using the Tigi Fashionista range as it protects my colour and the smooth & shine and spritz & shine products protect the hair. Cheaper to source these on ebay.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

I recently bought my girlfriend GHD from https://www.jasonshankey.co.uk and got a free heat mat and GHD iron oil
She swears by them now. She has tried other makes and nothing compares with them. They heat up in seconds and give a superb result every time.
You will get what you pay for.

Got some for my wife for £74.05 plus an extra £1.69 via GreasyPalm, there was a detailed thread on this but basically get them from www.hqhair.com and use one of the 10% codes knocking about on the vouchers board, don't forget to access the site through your GP.

Another vote for GHD here. My daughter wanted some for her birthday and I really didn't want to spend that much money on something like hair straighteners but both her and the wife swear by them. She'd had them 13 months and one of the ceramic plates packed up, called GHD customer services and sent them back, a few days later we received a brand new pair! Also, a workmates wife wanted hair straighteners but didnt want to pay for GHD, so she bought some real cheap ones, which were rubbish. She then bought some mid-range ones, which were better but not good enough and eventually she bought GHD and is very happy with them.

Buy GHD, they really do seem to be worth the money although it pains me to say it! :D
