i have found nothing to be as good as GHD - the only people who say the cheaper ones they have are brilliant, are people who have not used GHD ones

ok the cheaper ones might do the job ok, and you will think they are great, but if you ever get to try some GHD ones, you will see a difference

i have some GHS ones, and yes they are good, compared to alot of other immitatons on the market, but they still dont work as well as GHD ones do - cheaper ones dont heat as quickly or as high either, and also the plates on cheaper ones dont to meet so tight, no reasuring 'thunk' as you clamp your hair

if you can afford them, i really think you cant go wrong with the GHD ones, you buy the cheaper ones, and then after a while think, oh maybe i will get some of the GHD ones, so your initial layout, was a waste of money

Jet, the She ones can be bought in Sainsburys for £20, its their own make, and people on here have said they are very good.

There is a thread on Shop Don't Drop with an offer of £20 off GHD by trading in and also people have posted another website there for GHD.

Not too sure about the GHD straighteners, haven't really heard of that brand but my daughter bought herself another straightener a few weeks ago. This one you don't have to dry your hair first. They are wet to dry straightener all in one go. She said it's brilliant. It cost around $100, so that would be roughly 40 pounds. They should be over there as well, so maybe others have tried them too.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

I have owned my GHDs for the past 4 years and they are brilliant. Yes, the initial outlay is expensive, but they are worth it. The after sales service is fantastic, I have had mine replaced 3 times, no questions asked - brand new boxed pair each time, probably down to overuse!!!! I use mine everyday, sometimes twice.

    They are great!!

All I ever hear about GHDs is them blowing up - I know they've meant to have fixed that but I had a friend who's carpet was set alight recently by some faulty GHDs. They shouldn't need to be replaced regulary!!

Now I'm not even female but I haven't been able to avoid knowing that GHD straightners are so much better than anything else out there. In fact it can even be a false economy buying the cheap ones.

A quick search on Kelkoo revealed this site selling them for £78.95 inc. delivery

Sadly you wont get them much cheaper than that (I would love to be proved wrong obviously) :o

A lot of salons have a promotion at the moment £20 off a pair of GHDs if you bring in your old straighteners/tongs!

GHDs are the best - they cost a lot initially - but they are brill and last for ages (well, fantastic customer service swaps old for new with any faults)

  • My OH had been asking me to buy her GHD straighteners, but when I read reviews on the net, I ended up buying her a set of KODO straighteners. She now swears by these, and has reccomended them on numerous occasions. Paid about £25 & £5 P&P from eBay. She did break them by dropping them recently, but I ordered replacement ceramic plates for £8 (again from eBay), and fitted them myself. Good as new. Get your daughter to ask the shop staff about other brands than GHD when she goes in.
