I bought a 'cheap' pair (£25) about 2yrs ago and they did absolutely nothing for my hair - even though I'd try messing with it for about 1/2 hour.

My hair has quite a bit of curl in it - but after going to the hairdressers and coming home with 'straight' hair thought I'd try again.

I've just bought myself a pair of ghd - I went through all the threads on here and found this name mentioned all the time.

To be honest they are absolutely fantastic and for someone who hates spending time on their hair are a godsend - 5/10mins at the most and its done.

    Good luck

sounds just what I need could you tell me which model you have please

I bought some about 6 weeks ago from Ethel Austin. You can use them on wet hair too. I use them every morning and they haven't damaged my hair (not as far as I can tell anyway) They were £20 but rrp £79.99
    I haven't got one!
  • Nicky Clarke has a set of hair straightners with curling tong in a case along with hair products and a brush. This is reduced to half price, saw them in Tesco instore last night, down to £29.95.

Just read the Homebase leaflet and they have 10% off on Friday and Saturday and this offer is featured in the leaflet making them £26.99.

But daughter definately wants the GHDs icon11.gif

I bought mine from e-bay - just did a search for ghd straighteners - they were the 1.1/2" - I did get a bit confused over some of the descriptions regarding the plate sizes and the 'newest' model as they all looked the same, mine came with a heatmat and oil - although I haven't looked up the info to see when or how you use this!

When I did a search on here some of the sites mentioned were:

    https://www.saloneasy.com
    https://www.beautybay.com/haircare/g...eoriginalstyler
    https://www.beautysleuth.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/138
and HQhair - which I think they had a discount code

miss troo has been borrowing straighteners from friends to see which are the best  Anyway, she said these came first, with the GHD's coming in at second place :D

And as they're on offer, I'm going to order them right now, IF I can find my bluddy debit card, which I hid in a place so safe that I can't find it :o

Well everyone knows how biased I am towards ghd - but I have been using them for over 4 years and nothing else, in my opinion, comes close.

There was a thread that Rushnowt posted on - which I can't find now - about the New Woman magazine subscription with free Wahl Hair Straighteners, which she said were better than her recently purchased ghds.

As for the damage - well anything that generates that kind of heat applied directly to your hair is never going to be good for it - having said that I only get my hair cut once every 4 months and my split ends are not that bad! I hope!!!! Unless people are calling me Wurzel behind my back! :D
