Diary of how I went from ican to iquit (abridged version!!)

As I start the 6th week of my life as a BR I thought I'd post an update (a bit cathartic for me too). Had my OR interview which lasted 50 minutes. Thanks to the advice I got from this forum I managed to keep my mouth shut and not ramble during the drawn-out silences. I found the interviewer professional, polite and non-judgemental. I will be sent forms for a new soa as my pay has gone up and forms for a nil tax code. I was told I can keep my car for work and can buy the BI in my property - I'll wait for written confirmation before I get too excited but am happy non the less. On a personal front I've been very emotional - crying at the drop of a hat - not like me at all so am freaking out myself, family and friends:o, it was bound to happen though. To all those going through BR stay strong and positive, you are not alone.2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)

Nice to read your update. I think you get so highly strung in the last few wks before bc,then the worry about the interview that having onion eyes after is a release valve. Bit like a pressure cooker.lol Have to release it at some point

Well I got letter from OR last week setting out my IPA, it is less than a 1/4 of my monthly take home and definately less than I was expecting :j:j. Now that my BR is a reality I have made a 6 year plan for my life (personal and financial) with annual targets to meet. On the financial front I want to be mortgage free by 20/04/15 which will be 6 years after I filed for BR, ambitious I know but nothing is impossible. I refuse to let bankruptcy be the end of my lifelong plan to be financially secure. I was well on my way until I let myself be sidetracked by a man with no financial acumen and even less morals - oh the things we do for love :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. As part of this I've begun to look into a career change. I have an interview in September for a job that has great potential for advancing in my career, uping my income, allowing me to travel and work abroad. On the personal front I've put myself back on the market - more than 2 years after my break up. So far a few pleasant dates have helped to clear the cobwebs and let me see there are decent men
. So to all who like myself have been knocked for six by bankruptcy, lets pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and as our USA cousins would say "kick a**". Until my next installment take care and be good - if you can't be good then be good at it

Two months into my BR journey and I thought I'd just post a quick update. I've received letter from the OR confirming that I can keep my car. I quote it will be treated as "exempt property"......."the official receiver does not propose to take possession of or sell the property"
:D :T:T.
I also received a letter from Barclays (one of my BR creditors) informing me they had closed my savings account following contact from the OR. But you could have bowled me over with a feather when I read "If you still require a bank account, you may wish to apply for a Barclays Cash Card Account at your local branch.". Have to say that has got me thinking:huh:.
My enduring and eternal thanks to the forum and its members who continue to provide me with an anchor in the BR storm :money:.2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)

Thanks Dalip, I am grateful for all the support and encouragement I get from people like yourself. Reading and posting here is really cathartic. I'm really tempted to give Barclays a go and get a backup account to use should I need it. I love the co-op because they've treated me really really well since I went BR. My experience with banks makes me want to hedge my bets though.2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)

Phil, do you really want me to answer that question? One of your posts this evening mentioned jelly wrestling. I rest my case your honour!!2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)
