  • What letter Stillstonybroke? Received ticket refunds back to the credit card I paid with but no cc refunds and no reply to either of the letters I sent.

I got the refund, minus Credit Card charges, back to my card account, without any letters - just the initial email.
I wrote to complain about them keeping the £14 card charges when they had cancelled. They took about 4 weeks to reply. First time, they claimed Terms & Conditions meant charges were non-refundable.
A second letter (text as above claiming unfair conditions, etc.,) again they took four weeks to, by which time I had sent off another one (no reply to this yet).
It was this second response that they told me of their 'gesture of goodwill' and the £14 appeared back on the card account.
Hope that helps - keep trying; I think bmibaby Customer Service is a total misnomer!

Got my refund, but no letter and no cc fees. Just spoke to my bank - Cahoot - who said that if we get no luck by writing to BMI ourselves that they will help us fight for the £20. I thought that was very decent of them indeed, but again will be using your letters etc to get my money back. I will not let this go - it's literally day light robbery!
    Disgusting.
  • Did receive a 'goodwill' (LOL) letter yesterday saying they were refunding £14 charges. Trouble is I made three separate bookings so they owe me another 2x£14! I will be sending another letter especially as they have put in print that the 'circumstances were beyond my direct control'. Bring on the revolution!

Just my point gallygirl, don't be suprised when BMI Baby does the same thing all over East Midlands service. I think as somebody else says they have a try it and see policy get the punters money in and screw them if there is not enough. The Cardiff route would appear to be a good option because we are so poorly served for Almeria, having to travel to Birmingham or Gatwick, so why is E. Mids any better when you have Monarch at Birmingham running?

Oops, only just seen this reply, sorry :o. Basically BMI looked like a better bet - a combination of better days flights, plus times, and cheaper prices. This was when the flight out was at 8pm - ideal, could have worked from home Thurs & not had a day off work. The flights were less than 1/2 the Monarch price as well. I'm selfishly hoping that cancelling the Cardiff flight has pushed people to Monarch at B'ham which in turn has raised prices so demand switched to BMI @ E Mids . Here's hoping as 1st flight is in 7 weeks :), what will hopefully be last Ryanair flight is in 5 sleeps :D.

Well done nil des - tenacity rules :T
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Great News. I hope others in the same position keep bombarding them.
Good Luck with the other £28 - they've caved-in, so you will get it back. I just question why they need to be pushed so hard - Oh yes, of course, all the £10,000's they have made from those who can't be bothered to nag bmibaby for the money they are unlawfully retaining.

Quick calculation Boeing 737-300 (148 seats) as operated by bmibaby - £7 per passenger - up to £1036 in Credit card charges per flight!

  • I've read all your posts egarding the cancellation of the Cardiff to Almeria flight and I'm desperate for some advice.

I originally booked 5 flights for my family from Cardiff to Murcia. Then BMI baby announced its new route to Almeria. This flight was much better for us so I changed the flights from Murcia to Almeria

I paid a £250 fee to make the changes (£50 pp to make the return changes), i paid the difference in flight fare which was approximately £30 each and a total of £70 credit card fees. The total cost I paid for flights and changes and fees total £900.00 (this includes the original murcia flight, the airline fee to make changes, the difference in air fare for the change of flights and credit card fees)

then BMI cancelled their cardiff to Almeria route .... great! they've refunded the price of the flight only.... despite paying £900 in total they have given me £580 back stating that credit card fees of £70 are non refundable and the £250 fee to make changes is non refundable. I am now £320 out of pocket with no flight!!!!!!!!

Surely they can't do this to me???? I really need some help to fight this - can anyone please help???
