fast growing tall pyracantha. Its full of nasty prickles. Put wires up your side of the fence and it won`t be long before it is up and over the top. Will also stop the pests next door jumping over the fence

If you were dealing with someone like you or me this would be the ideal solution but is someone who climbs into other peoples gardens without a second thought going to listen?

Well, if you don't try just asking him first, how will you ever know? It seems a bit off to jump straight into extreme measures involving hidden spikes and special paint!
You could just put a sign up saying "trespassers will be prosecuted", or "CCTV in operation", or maybe "My garden isn't a public right of way, stay the hell out!".
Or you could plant nettles around the fence - it'll put people off, and it's cheaper than spikes.
Barbed wire isn't going to endear yourself to your neighbours.

I had a similar problem in a house I onced lived in caused all sorts of grief.

As I understand it you have to be very careful because if you injure a person then you may find yourself liable.

What happened to me was that my wall was by a lamp post. All the kids in the neighbourhood would sit on it and drink and be generally abuseive.

I got very fed up. I then got 4 pounds of cheap lard. Softened in a pan and poured it on my wall as bird food. The next time the local yout gathered they got coverd and left the wall alone.

May not be an answer but worker well for me

Yeah I agree, Anyone tried that with my kid they'd be looking over their shoulder for a long time.
