I looked on EBay but they're getting on for £200! And we only need it for a couple of hours to do the gable end, it's so high though.

We will overpay but will have to be tomorrow as we are out friday!

Made our first overpayment ever last week (£100 standing order) in the 7th month of our mortgage, if only we knew more about it before this website told us!

Can I just ask, with the mortgage (half) standing at something like £85,321, if we paid off 321 will it take it down to £85000? Seems a dopey question but does it work like that what with the interest etc?

Gonna pay off £300 tomorrow to make me feel better after spending 650 on football tickets and 350 on going out in the last few weeks

s.h.m.w, I'm not sure about the £321 thing, but it's good to see you here!

You've spent a grand on leisure but IMO you have to pay your bills but you have to have a life too!
Your footy tickets are you little bit of space, everybody needs to let their hair down and enjoy themselves.

It's a shame that not everyone can see the benefits of clearing the big one early, it gives you a lot more options later in life.

I'm getting excited for Saturday now, going to get in early to pay, I think there's going to be a queue on a Saturday, then'll it'll be back to nose to the stone to try and get a bit more together. :j

sunshine_shell, we will be renting a ladder, it works out to about £25 a day but not sure about delivery, I think it will still be a lot cheaper though.

Wish I could join you all but I hve put overpaying on hold for the time being. few reasons firstly CCards have a few hundred on them left from my maternity leave and our bathroom is a tip and is needing replaced desperatly so spare money is all going to those things.

When is the next mass overpayment day??

Barneys, I wouldnt usually spend that much, well not since moving into our first place last year, but I got a decent tax rebabte, still managed to use some of to 'overpay' so I don't feel to bad spending so much, I also got a few things for the gf aswell as a couple of shows up town etc. The thing is I expected about 10% of what I got on that rebate and had a few quid saved up anyway so not too sad.

I feel that now I overpay I have made up for it, I mean the interest is poor these days anyway eh...!
  • I live in America, so obviously the banks are all closed tomorrow. Right now there are 66 posts, and mine will be 67; so I'm going to the bank to overpay $670 right now :D

The clock still hasn't stopped for me though. So the money I owe between now and the official ending of this challenge will be applied to an overpay I'll make Monday, July 6th. :D

I'll drop our extra OP of £200 in tomorrow online.

Have you seen the BBC article noting that the UK is making record repayments of mortgages at the moment and that we haven't all gone out spending on the high street?

Pity we couldn't get this forum listed there
