I teach English and also run the dept. I find that I can never plan ahead as what happens in one lesson determines what I need to do with them the next lesson. I start the week with a rough idea of what I want to cover that week and roughly how I hope to deliver it. Then each night I plan for the next day's lessons.....creating new resources, adapting existing resources to suit the class etc. It is really hard going but I would feel bad if I just followed a plan and a set of resources and did not adapt to the pupils I am teaching.....after all each class is very different and have different needs
me too viv. It is very hard with the boys though, and more difficult because i don't know the classes yet other than they are middle/low ability, and 2 classes every kid has MLD or more.

It bugs me though that i am the only one in school come 3:30 when the school day finishes at 3:15. And the HOD walks out with only her handbag and no marking/planning etc. It makes me think i must be in the wrong.

Obviously keep at it. Only choice then is to do it on the night i've worked, or the night before then, meaning either 6 days of thinking about work or 3. Back to see what everyone else said.

    Thank you
