I am wondering how best to organise my planning as i am so far doing it the night before i teach it and it takes a long time to sort out. Lesson plans are mainly for Chemistry topics from new KS4 that i haven't taught before, so it is making it difficult. Which of these do you think sounds best. I work Mon, Wed and Fri in case that would sway you.
1) as i am, prepare the night before
2) plan on the day i've worked, e.g. mon night, come home from work and plan for Wed, on wed do Fridays, and on Fri do Mon work.
3) slog my guts out early in the week for a few days so i get a few days off later.
I've just been thinking to myself today it would be nice to have the weekend at least with nothing to do or hanging over me, so i suppose i have partly answered myself, but it's the bit of the job we all love to hate. How do you guys do it?
Personally i now can't wait for half term as i will then hopefully get a bit ahead and lose the 1 lesson y13 chemistry they have given me (crazy as i am a biology teacher but i am there to babysit while they study). I also know i want to have at least next Wed planned before Friday as we have Sam's party on the Monday, and the ILs stopping with us Mon-Wed which i hate on a work day. If the planning is pre-done it will make it easier.
Enough rambling for now anyway. See you all Soon x
Ok, I'm a full time chem teacher and I would...get yourself a teacher planner if you don't already. Get your schemes of work and write in for a half term at a time which lessons you are doing with which groups. That way you know what is coming up medium term. Then I would bite the bullet and make yourself a lesson plan for each lesson, the week before you teach it. keep these, and if you can maybe an outline powerpoint for each one-but not death by powerpoint! do you have to order apparatus a week in advance? what board are you doing? maybe i can pass you some resources?
if you grit your teeth and get it done in advance, you will be at an advantage next year.

Back from my walk just in time as the sky has gone black and its raining.
Where I went is a country park and its only 15 minutes walk from home. A case of living near something and not going. Its a really big lake, took me 35 minutes to walk around it. At the North end is a pub with a childrens area. At the south end is a mining musuem with a cafe and you can go into some of the buildings. Worth a visit if anyone is ever in the area. Plenty of people there tourists, locals and fishermen. DD lives 10 minutes from the musuem bit. She said she is ok but not really. Ended up telling me she didnt go yesterday because she was frightened it happened while she was there. We have had a good chat and a cuddle.
I havent gone to bed as I cant settle so cooking lunch then going to watch a bit of tv.
Carol22 Big hugs for you and your boyfriend. Sending thoughts for the family and friends.0 -

I'll join you Froddington - been lazing in the park and just back.
Proud mummy moment - whilst we were busy chatting my little man finally got to ride around in the park on two wheels - wobbly but who cares! Thanks DS. Just had a repeat performance so mummy could cheer too. And a lovely lady walking her dog stopped to tell me how much better he was today from yesterday.
MoamAlthough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

But don't go too far - I had a Biology teacher in the early 70's who prided herself on having the same lesson plans for 14 years:eek::rotfl::rotfl:
On a flying front have cleaned the kitchen floor and meal planned as the grand Prix was on and have just had a lovely lady (freecycle) come round to collect a walking frame that belonged to late FIL and has been in the garage for the past 2 years, so a small corner of the garage decluttered as well:D
OH and I are off to the gym this afternoon - we are booking a holiday for the end of October so I really need to get the weight off now. It's a bit of a 30th Wedding aniversary celeb so I will have to succeed this time.
Hugs to all especially to those in need.0 -
Hi all,
been MIA for a bit, but have been organising myself quite a lot, caught up on lots of little tasks that have been niggling...:D
Hope everyone is well. Notice that apparently there were some photos of the meet, but couldn't see them - can someone let me know the link please...
Dusty - hugs for you and your DD, she is a very brave girl to go through that and my thoughts are with you.
Same for you and your BF Carol, how sad for someone so young - I hope that the news of someone else being killed is wrong...
I will catch up more later, but hope everyone else is well, Toots, how has your weekend been? hope you have been relaxing and enjoying those 'hugs in the post' - how are the fairy's growing? :rotfl:LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
jayjay14 its a good point, but we couldn't do that even if we wanted to since the teaching goalposts are changed much more regularly than that now. (wanders off chuntering about the government/s ...)

unloaded the dishwasher, hand washed most of the dishes that were not clean , took a load of washing upstairs and put it away, unloaded the washing machine, put the washing machine back on, and emptied the dyson.
