The deal was they would be able to stay here when back in the UK, but it's all got very OOH with them turning up nine times last year to stay for about two weeks at a time.
OH has finally agreed this isn't on and we are having a big chat about it tomm, which could see us looking for our own place, which will be hard as he's about to declare BR so we can't get a mortgage.
Best bit is we aren't even married so not really MIL at all.
Good luck with whatever you decide. Given how hard you are working, you need your home to be your own - you don't have the time or energy to be running a hotel and providing a housekeeping service as well!0 -
Hi everyone and hugs to all those who need them. I'm sorry I can't keep up with all your posts but work is really hectic at the moment. I'm leaving at about 7.30am , returning about 6.30pm and then working for several hours at home. Hopefully it will calm down after May 15th.
Need to get a few bits done today but after getting home from doing the shopping I don't feel really motivatedWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Since my last post I've done a big pile of washing up, folded an airer full of washing, S&S the kitchen, sorted a pile of stuff for DH to file/shred and virus scanned the laptop. Also went out for a walk round the extended block with DH for about 40 minutes. Nothing really off the list but a few things all the same. Am now sitting with a cuppa, piece of cake and How Clean is Your House which seems to be on all weekend on sky
vivw hope things do improve after 15th may
carol & boddy & DD - sorry for your losses.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
((((hugs)))) for boddy & carol.
I had a lie in and finished the book I started last night (and I wonder where my money goes...). The Horse Boy by Rupert Isaacson - it's a fascinating book, and would be of particular interest to those of you living or working with autistic children. More info here if you're interested...
I've now managed to make a bit of progress. One load of washing done and on the line, and I've managed to get myself into the shower, clean and into clean clothes, clean the shower, put loo cleaner down the loo to soak, clean the DW filter, load the DW and do the washing up.
I'm going to put another load of laundry on, then try to summon up the energy to go food shopping so I have decent stuff to eat during the week (seeing as I didn't lose any weight at my last checkup a week ago, so need to have lost 2kg by this time, and haven't really been making the effort!).
I also need to give the whole house a S&S, but I'm writing off this week for flying, so anything I do today will count towards next week!
The garden also needs urgent attention - grass needs mowing, beds need weeding, ground elder needs cutting, dandelions need dealing with in the lawn, and I need to inspect the passionflower which appears to have died (I suspect my neighbour, who doesn't like the fact that [STRIKE]I've [/STRIKE]it's been killing the leylandii in the hedge ).
However, I'm still not hugely energetic, so I think I'll just have to see how things go. Most important is to be prepared for the week ahead.
ETA - Princess Jane - have I read right? Is your MIL coming to stay for THREE WEEKS . You're a brave woman... Good luck
I really want to read that book. My son is severely autistic and I have kept horses all my life. He is completely at ease around my mare which is the only place he seems to relax. I truly believe that horses can help in so many ways with children and adults. I volunteered for the Riding for the Disabled when I was younger.
Im now off to order the book! x x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

boddy hope your DD is ok
carol22 such sad news honey ((hugs for you, your boyfriend and of course his friends loved ones.
Princess Jane, why did they bother moving out there, I have a not married to outlaw too and couldn't put up with her staying one night! If you want to rent do so before he does BR if possible as some, well most, letting agents credit check now.
Triker good luck!
greenbee looks interesting, my oldest is scared stiff of horses unfortunately, however a puppy helped him
Managed to get DSs to help tidy their rooms, DS1s was awful. Done 2 washer loads. Got in the shower over an hour ago and still sat in my dressing gownso I best get dressed soon.
Just finished booking another 10 night holiday for over the summer, I nearly booked for 17 but think I would get bored in the same place for so long. http://www.cawoodpark.com/index.php looks nice, never been to one with fishing and DS1 really likes fishing.
Ds2s friend birthday party at 4pm, swimming one and thankfully Ds2 bite/infection has cleared up so he can go in. DS1s being allowed to go too so he's happy. One day I might be more organised...........

hey folks
lovely to see the flylady meet photo and hear you had a good time.
carol and boddy, my thoughts are with you and your families.
Me and DH have been busy most of the morning with the kids. I've got 4 loads of washing done. 1 wool wash with my suit, 1 30degree wash, 1 load of towels, and the cover off DS2's playnest to make the most of drying weather. We also hoovered up all of the living/dining room (mammoth mission as it required picking up and sorting all the kids toys) including pulling out the 2 chairs and sofas, the coffee table and the TV cabinet. We also spot wiped the walls particularly where my tea splashed yesterday and it came out all right.
Then we went in the garden. The plants have all been watered, and DH has cleared the weeds from the patio and swept up, then spent about an hour pulling up dandelions. He's declared war, and he is far from winning.
Then we had lunch and split up. I washed up and tidied table after lunch, and prepped veg for roast pork this tea time. DS2 slept. DH and DS1 went and bought a BBQ (so we can feed people at the party) and popped for some essentials at the supermarket. I managed to get one lesson planned for tomorrow. At least its a start. I know what i'm doing in the others i just need to fill in the A4 lesson plan for each and check it. I would have done more but DS2 heard the printer and woke up.
Pork now in oven, and DH is assembling the BBQ outside. DS2 is watching them through the patio doors ad smearing them, but heck - it gives me a few minutes peace.
query for teachers:
I am wondering how best to organise my planning as i am so far doing it the night before i teach it and it takes a long time to sort out. Lesson plans are mainly for Chemistry topics from new KS4 that i haven't taught before, so it is making it difficult. Which of these do you think sounds best. I work Mon, Wed and Fri in case that would sway you.
1) as i am, prepare the night before
2) plan on the day i've worked, e.g. mon night, come home from work and plan for Wed, on wed do Fridays, and on Fri do Mon work.
3) slog my guts out early in the week for a few days so i get a few days off later.
I've just been thinking to myself today it would be nice to have the weekend at least with nothing to do or hanging over me, so i suppose i have partly answered myself, but it's the bit of the job we all love to hate. How do you guys do it?
Personally i now can't wait for half term as i will then hopefully get a bit ahead and lose the 1 lesson y13 chemistry they have given me (crazy as i am a biology teacher but i am there to babysit while they study). I also know i want to have at least next Wed planned before Friday as we have Sam's party on the Monday, and the ILs stopping with us Mon-Wed which i hate on a work day. If the planning is pre-done it will make it easier.
Enough rambling for now anyway. See you all Soon x0 -
Hi all! So far today I have hoovered most of the house, done 2 loads of washing which are drying nicely outside, been shopping at Mr S, and S & S kitchen and bathroom! Phew! Oh, and I watched the Grand Prix
:j :T
Need to find and update my list so I can get some stars ...........
valli - you can keep PG to yourself, he's not my sort!
TAG - :rotfl::rotfl:any comments or gossip?
boddy - hugs for you and DD; the lady is at peace now
carol - hugs and prayers for you, boyfriend and all those involved or affected; so sad
michelle - I'm definitely not the person to ask about organising planning :rotfl:

I teach English and also run the dept. I find that I can never plan ahead as what happens in one lesson determines what I need to do with them the next lesson. I start the week with a rough idea of what I want to cover that week and roughly how I hope to deliver it. Then each night I plan for the next day's lessons.....creating new resources, adapting existing resources to suit the class etc. It is really hard going but I would feel bad if I just followed a plan and a set of resources and did not adapt to the pupils I am teaching.....after all each class is very different and have different needsWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -

carol so sorry to hear of that sad death - hugs for you and OH - have a quiet day.
greenbee make sure you shop as well -you need healthy food for this week to keep you sharp and help with the weight loss.
princess Jane yes it sounds like it is time to move and have your own place - you are just being treated like a caretaker IMHO - I am sure if you didnt keep it all clean and tidy she would moan about 'her' house?
I am glad OH is with you on this and hope you get something sorted before he goes BR - it will be almost impossible afterwards.
vivw thats a long day - hope it does calm done after the 15th ((hugs))
lil_me glad the boys are both off to the swim party - that should wear them out!
michelle you are answering yourself honey - this week you need to be planned in advance because of the party - try and keep a step ahead at least - a lot will depend on what else is happening. the other teachers will help you better than I can but I would always want to be planned in advance and not the night before just in case one of the boys was not well or something else cropped up.
toots xxPeace will be mine
could do better - must try harder
