Morning Urg, ((hugs)) to you for Diwali without your mum. I remember clearly my first Christmas without my dad, so I empathise, but can also say that each one that passes gets a little easier x

    Hi Hypno

It has been hard - the house was always full of goodies and just had a lovely warmth. It's not that it isn't there but I miss my mum's warmth. We will be going to visit family tomorrow which will be good.

    Hi Pippi,

I can't even remember what i said! I'm sure it was nothing too awful!

Yesterday was weird - I did okay and even went to visit my aunt. I get on well with her and her nubby. OH and I ended up watching a film and my mind wandered and there were tears. I'm feeling a but delicate today and very dehydrated. Just plan to take it easy. We'll go and visit dad and then a few relatives and then back home.

Just needed to vent! I went to meet with an old friend. I'd been really looking forward to it and we were due to go for a meal so had a salad for lunch. She turned up saying she wasn't hungry yet due to a late lunch so we ended up sitting in a pub. I am rely annoyed with her as I was looking forward to it and have ended up with a meal of bread and cheese.

I don't know if I am being irrational but I was so
annoyed but being me didn't say anything so just made my excuses and left.

I am going to go to bed and try and wake up in a better mood.

    Evening All,

I've finally done it! We've had the measurements for the windows and paid the deposit. No turning back now!

I've also returned some items I had bought online and got £37 back on my card. I popped into Boots on my way home and found they were having one of their events. I used the chance to get a few items off the shopping list including a few baby gifts for some babies I know are due to join us in the next couple of months.

I am going to focus on some cleaning and decluttering over the next few weeks. I also
have to manage my finances and think about ways in which to make my money stretch further to help pay for the windows.

Right, off to write down some ideas and then head to bed.

    Night.

    Urg xx

    Morning all,

A little lie in was just what i needed. Going to get up in a Minute as flatmate and I are going to Central London for a bit of a shop. I need foundation from my favourite store MAC. I have a couple of small things on the list don't plan to spend too much.

I'm also going back to my voluntary job on a regular basis. I have mixed feelings about going back for some reason. I will give it a go but I have also decided that if I need to, I will step away permanently.

Lots of small things to do that I haven't managed to get completed yet so I will do my weekend list when I get out of the shower.

Hope you all have a good day. Waving

    Thanks Hypno
We had a great day - I could have spent much longer out looking at things but I had to get back. Oh well - at least money was saved by not being out for too long! I managed to swap a foundation that was given to me in the wrong shade for one in my shade, as well as a new blusher and two new lipsticks. I have been wearing make-up more often since my 'make-over'.

I didn't spend much else except for some snacks as my flatmate paid for lunch. I haven't been doing very well with my NSDs. I have only managed one but need to aim for 10! I must get more organised and take my lunches into work. That is my one major fault!

Off to bed now but will need to get up early. OH has been a bit useless with the housework so will have to play catch up tomorrow with the washing.

    Night,

    Hi Everyone

Lots of stuff going on in the background - like many others on here. I am pretty sure it'll sort itself out but it has been getting me thinking about managing my finances better.

I have been in my flat for 5 years and have managed to pay off nearly £15K in that time. As OH and I are definatly going to be moving for a while I have decided that one my next challenges is to reduce the mortgage by another £10k in one year. I have really benefitted with the low Bank of England Interest rate and my mortgate payments are easily manageable. I have decided to do 2 things to increase my payments:
    1) put my new payrise difference to my new mortgage. I will get the full difference in my next pay. As I have never had this extra money I am not going to notice it if I squirrel it away straight away.
    2) Earn the remaining amount through MSE activity.

I have also been thinking about paying off the windows and find funds to pay for the kitchen and bathroom to be done. I want to pay off/put aside about £10K. I have to play with my SOA a bit more because I also want to have a little more wriggle room for me too. My current SOA does't allow for holidays and weekends away and I really want to ensure that we start to allow for some funds towards fun.

I guest this is my way of preparing for Hypnos pay off £20k in a year. I have got very close before so it's more than possible!

Have had a semi successful day -
    1 load of washing done
    Ironing done
    New savings account openend
    Menu plan started
    NSD achieved
    bit of tidying done

I did spend too much time on the sofa - I guess I needed some time out. Still to do this weekend:
    loads!

Off to dinner now - will catch up soon.

I have also been talking about doing up the flat. It's time I really sprung into action. I have got the number of a plumber who also does bathrooms and kitchens. I will call him next week.
