urg's 123 Back to Basics Debt Free Plan

Hi All,
Just a small update. The windows that I thought would be much cheaper aren't really that much cheaper. OH and I have decided that if there isn't as much in it, then we will go for the Sash windows. I am waiting for a final figure and will then book it next week.
Now this is where I admit how will be paying for them - I will be using a balance transfer on my CCs to pay for this. I know, I know. However, I would otherwise only be able to pay for them after the summer which would be no good to me! So officially, I will be going back to paying off debts but I know that I can afford it and it will all be budgeted for. Once the windows are covered, I will be looking at replacing the kitchen and bathroom. I am planning to do all the groundwork for that so that I can get it started as soon as funds are available again.
In terms of the financial goals I set earlier:- Set a budget and stick to it Working towards to meeting it.
- Absolutely no spending on the CC Yep
- Write it all down - Yes - spending diary is being worked on
- Set a budget for groceries (and stick to it) budget set and £50 spent already!
- Look for ways of saving (review gas and electric) Apparently I am on the best tariff for me!
- Aim for 10 NSDs Haven't achieved one yet!
- Take lunches to work at least 3 times per week. Achieved!
OH is away for a couple of nights - it's nice having the place to myself but I do miss him. Tomorrow I'm going out for lunch - not looking forward to it but I can't not go! Oh well, at least it's Pizza Express which I like!
Waving to you all,

don't blame you sticking with the sash windows if not much difference in price and no harm doing it on the cc as a BT especially if 0%..do the firm accept CC payments without extra charge.I ask as my boiler man wanted to charge 2.5% for paying by CC...
well done on all the other stuff too0 -
HI Taxi,
How are you doing?
Sadly the window co would charge me 3%. It's now different to getting a money transfer for a 3% fee (0% on the rest of the term!). I have a great offer open at the moment which means I would have til next September to re-pay. I could do a lot of 'clever' money moving to get everything done - especially as my aim is to have all the work done by Easter. I need to have paid it all off by next August at the latest as that's when my lodger goes.
Watching a fantastic series - I bought it ages ago and it's the first time I've hada chance to watch it.
I must make sure that I don't put on the next episode tonight! I am going to take advantage of the extra hour in bed!

Am fine thanks for asking.0 -
What I really need to do is make sure that I am disciplined hence the focus on on the finances. OH and I have been a bit slack and I finally think he is getting on board!
Glad to hear you are doing ok - I see that there is a pink and purple surprise to look forward to on your page - I look forward to reading more.
The episode is over so I am going to head off to bed.
Rest well and I'll be back soon.

Morning All
Happy Diwali to everyone!
This is my first without mum so it will be hard. I miss all the preparation beforehand. I will be going into work to keep me busy and then dinner with family which will be nice.
I've really suffered with my monthly 'friend' this month. Not sure why. I think I need to review my health/eating/exercise. I need to get into a better routine.
I think I may get up in a minute and have a shower. I may as well get the ironing done while I am up so early!
Have a good day everyone,

Happy Diwali to you urg (apologies but I had to Google it to see what it was)!
Hope you enjoy it, I'm sure you mum will be enjoying it right beside you.0 -
Morning All,
I've been awake for a little while and been doing some thinking.
I arranged for a money transfer for my windows yesterday - I have £7500 plus the fee on it's way over to me shortly! I have to pay this back November 2011. I have decided to use this as a float to pay for the improvements on the flat. My budget allows for about £1000 for repayments.
There's lots of other things to do today!
- get up, washed and dressed!
- bake biscuits (my first go at mum's recipie)
- call hmrc for dad to ask about form sent for completion
- clean bathroom
- wash kitchen floor
- visit aunt (haven't seen her for a while)
- visit other aunt to drop off stuff
- take bags to charity shop
- update budget
- move money around
- open high interest account to hold repayments for CC
- washing (there's three loads to do and no space to dry clothes - my flatmate went a bit washing mad!)
- ironing
- walk for 30 minutes
- 30 minutes decluttering
- collect contact lenses from town.
I'm sure that's enough for me to force myself out of bed.
Have a good day!

Morning Urg, ((hugs)) to you for Diwali without your mum. I remember clearly my first Christmas without my dad, so I empathise, but can also say that each one that passes gets a little easier xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground.
