Good Morning, i havent been on the boards since sometime last year i think but i have still been battling on with paying debts and paying for my wedding :-). I am pleased to say that when i had my lightbulb moment for me and my other half it was 77,240.69p  however as of 31st march it was 69.423.58 so so far we have cleared alot £7817.11to be precise and thats still allowed us to live comfortable..... however i have big dreams and intend to be debt free by january 2012... or more bettter 31/12/11 i dont want to anyone a penny then i can say 2012 is the year that life really begins
hehe.... so i intend to save cash to buy my own land and build my own home i have family in the trade im allowing myself till im 29 which is 4 years
if i am no where near the idea i shall buy my own home and start a family but i would like a go at it
and i think good determination gets you there.... i worked out that just paying basics on credit while wedding is cleared another month or 2 we are clearing 1587.74 per month so after wedding cleared id like to take that to 2000 per month or more
just so we can have rid of some stoopid credit cards ! the baine of my life, they already live at my mum and dads because i refuse to spend on them !!! which is sensible i think for a new 25 year old :P heheh so hears to a good debt free journey
xx hope to keep up to date with my thread
because it really helps keep on track xx

Thats confused me because I'm 25 now too but just realised that I cant add up - thats a good start :rotfl:Ill be 28 in the October of that year (I think)
Debt busting ok but stagnating at the minute - OH is self employed and his earnings have dropped a bit but we are making all the payments just not the big overpayments that we were making this time last year but onwards and upwards (or downwards)
My dream would be a house with land to keep my horseys on - OH pales at the thought so that may be just a dream.

Good day all, feeling blooming fed up of it all today... debts really getting me down dont get me wrong we can afford to pay it out im just feeling low that instead of enjoying paying for my wedding im feeling id get better satisfaction clearing a debt.. is it because im sad about getting married and starting in a boat load of debt who knows it just feels a depressing journey
Normally i am pretty positive.. i mean last year we owed 75 k and we were struggling to make ends meet, now my oh has a new job and a 10 k payrise with potential for another payrise since he is extra pally with the boss and keeps getting asked to do senior things i have a gut feeling he may be offered managers role in which a pay rise will come... however now we have 69 k of debt which in its self is rather flaming depressing when im only 24 and hes 31
cure these credit companys
ok rrant over im looking for feel good vibes

Good morning all, feelingmuch better and positive was having a crap moan and groan yesterday
..... ive had a letter from one of my loans 2088.44p owing so that will be finished in another 12 months exact, that makes me feel better.... we have been thinking of spending some cash on decorating our bedroom before the wedding making it a little more of a sanctury but have decided if we clear my egg card first then we can do the bedroom i feel its a fair deal but one i may struggle to stick with
but needs must eh...i soon tire of the decor of my home because it is tiny and its pokey and its a stepping stone so we could spend thousands decorating and we still would not feel we enjoyed it
so maybe thats my answer ride out the storm and give it a lick of paint before we look at selling
or maybe jut tidy it a little along the way grrrr im so indecisive about spending money these days because i feel guilty about our debt does that make sense... even jobs that need doing im hanging back because i feel bad against the debt its not increasing the debt nor is it affecting minimum payment i dont know whats up with me lol
anyway rant over

Hi Happytobedebtfree,
I had my light bulb moment in January this year, since then I have managed to clear nearly 25% of my debt. It is blimin hard work but my OH and I really want to move in together and buy our own home.
Keep up the good work, £2000 a month is amazing, your debt will be gone in no time. Make sure you know the reasons you are in debt now so that once you are debt free you will not go down that path again.
When do you get married?
Tasha x

Hi tasha
.... i get married in august this year i really cant wait.... but its a really hard struggle knowing you have debt, and starting married life in it can be somewhat depressing after all you watch programs of marriages and its all hunky dory so its a little bit of a wake up call for me.... i can only say our debt is for things we thought we desreved and trying to keep up with the jones's....we are both in secure jobs im a nurse and my oh is a computer engineer
in a company thats booming so thats really good, he started there in january and it increased is salary by 10 k which has been the big help... i know im learning my lessons but its just sometimes a hard battle of a road

Hi Happytobedebtfree,
You must be getting so excited now, the wedding is fast approaching.
I would look at your situation like you are going into marriage knowing that you have found the perfect man and you both now know how to look after your finances and from teh day your debt free your life is just going to keep getting better and better.
Whats your dress like, what sort of wedding are you having?
xxxxxx
