We eat a mostly vegetarian diet and use our slow cooker a lot to make veggie casseroles, chillies and such, it's mostly about convenience for us to just throw everything in when we know we'll be getting home late like a savoury quorn mince to eat with mash.

I even cook my carrots and turnips in my slow cooker and they taste much better than when done on the hob. Just finished a bucket of veggie soup in it about 10 minutes ago and most of its gone already! I think its also the fact that you can totally ignore a slow cooker and leave it to work its magic then when you take the lid off the smell is wonderful. Its good for beans too.

Myself and OH are both vegetarians, I generally like to cook our meals and have some leftover for lunches during the week, and freeze portions for lunch or dinner at a later stage.

Just some general ideas of things we like to eat, to see if it would be worth/do-able to do any of these as slowcooker dishes, as most of the slowcooker threads are about meat. How does quorn do in the slowcooker?

pasta dishes- cheese macaroni, tomato, pesto cream sauces, med veg sauces, spag bol with quorn mince.
veg casserole with beans and potatoes, sometimes quorn.
    soups
    shepherds pie with quorn mince
stir fry veg with egg or rice noodles
    potato/veg bakes
    kormas, using quorn

Do any vegetarians have any other ideas for things they do in their slowcookers?

We are both out for long hours during the day, so would a slowcooker be useful to cook anything from the above, leave it in all day and return at night to a cooked meal?

    Hi,

We're a veggie household and I use the slowcooker lots, year round. It is possible to cook quorn in it but I've never done so as I don't really like it. It's great for lentil and bean dishes though, so if you use dried beans they're fantastic. I make all the usual things in it - stew, lentil bol, chilli, curry, anything with a tomato-based sauce, well worth the money. Well, I say money but ours was free so it was worth someone else's money.

We eat a mainly vegetarian diet, do any of you have recipes for lentil based slow cooker meals as I have loads of them in the cupboard and I have run out of ideas as to what to do with them!
