Sod Felixstowe Docks, my local's in trouble

Now i've got kids I rarely go out, but i used to live by the adage if I want to pray I'll go to church.

I'd never have beer in the house, now sadly the only time i drink beer is in the house tbh.

Pubs closing is a shame, it's not just in villages/towns where it's happening it's in London too. Nice little pub round the corner from Holborn police station now borded up.

Village pubs can be a real hub of a community.

I have never understood the idea of the local. Do people go down to their local pub in large numbers for a beer several evenings a week? Feels a bit old fashioned to me. Family pubs yes, food pubs yes, town centres yes. The pub on the corner....?

Case in point I'm sat here typing this nonsense for anyone who cares to read it, whilst having just poured myself a bottle of Fullers ESB (a cheeky 5.9% btw)

Familiar terrority etc, there's only about 8 or so pubs i'll drink in , in London on the rare occasions I go for a drink.

I think of the local as a pub you can walk in and know who a lot of the people are, and the person behind the bar might ask after your partner/dog or similar.

Our village pub, depsite my lack of love, is actually pretty good at that. We have a lot of village events that start or end there too. They have a stand at most things in the village hall too.

We have stopped having (cough) relationships with animals round here now.(it was only a few years ago though)
