The OP only posted that here was a sale on! After 325 posts it's difficult to know what specifically you are referring to.

  • Im giving everyone a catch up in my problem Im having with the £360'ringfenced' from my debit card on Thursday. Having had numerous conversations with my bank and Travelodge, and having given TL all the authorisation codes with all 9 individual transaction charges, Im now waiting for TL to get back to me (were supposed to contact me this morning, been on phone and was promised ret call by 4.00pm, still no call) they need to give me their reversal codes, which I then need to call up my bank again and pass them on so they can refund us our money. What a complicated way to get our money back! Why couldnt TL just fax a bank a letter of authorisation to say they arent claiming the money and just to refund it to our account? Neither our bank or TL are admitting to being responsible for our overdraft charges which we are incurring from their mistake making us go over our limit. Consumer Advice told me to send a letter to TL which I have (sent recorded delivery!) So much for supposedly being re-credited in 5 days!! What a laugh. All this stress has made me poorly, and Ive been off work last 2 days with a dodgy stomach! The lady from TL laughed when I suggested compensation for their error and my worry. My letter stressed that I was giving them until 1st May to make sure my money was refunded, and that bank charges (when known) were re-imbursed by 1st May, so they got 2 days to sort it out before I take this out of their hands and over their heads. Never ever booking TL again, dont think I could really go through this again.
  • Opps forgot to say, those that said they were having problem finding a telephone number, Ive been going through on 0844 6006999, have to hold about 10mins, but do get through eventually

So much for supposedly being re-credited in 5 days!! .

It hasnt been 5 days tho, clearly they mean 5 working days. So last Friday, Monday, Today, Wednesday, Thursday. I would assume it would be sorted by Friday.

They have ring fenced my money too and I have emailed and asked and got a prompt reply. Yes a pain but i just shuffled money from another account to cover it just now, no big deal. If the money isnt sorted by Friday then I will consider getting in touch again.

They had said that if I gave them all the auth codes and got their bank trans reversal codes it would be done quicker, but Im not thinking that that is not the case and they just told me that to shut me up!!

Really, you were lucky - I held for about 15-20 minutes then gave up.

I'm surprised about your codes though, we did nothing after they verbally assured us it would go back, and it did!

We never got the room though - booked somewhere else in the end - worked out cheaper in fact.

What a shambles. Such poor customer service from Travelodge
What a worry this must be for everyone, and what a way to treat customers in such hard financial times.
I'm sure other companies would have sorted this out in a more appropriate fashion, ie issuing letters to customers' banks, and generally be more sympathetic and helpful.

It is their server problems after all that caused all this trouble!
Those who remember when TasteLondon had server problems during a give-away, how effectively they dealt with that situation. The Managing Director himself came on MSE to apologise, and answering everyone's questions.

I hope this will be sorted out for you soon, slinkycat, and for all others who have had money 'ring-fenced'.
