Off to get the sticky ............
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning everyone  I have been to bed, but I've got so many things whizzing in my mind, so I thought if I write my list here, I'll be able to get some more sleep
It's DD's 16th Birthday tomorrow (where did that time go
) and we're off to stay with the in-laws for the weekend, then to see Wicked in London on Saturday :j
List for today:

Morning folks.
Windy and showery here. The whole easter holiday so far has been a disaster weather wise, glad I am not camping or even on holiday come to that.
Spent the day sailing yesterday, or should I say bobbing. The wind was almost non existent and so the races were abandoned at lunch time due to no wind and heavy rain. So we retired to the bar and drank 'Skinners' ale kindly donated by the sponsor. Nice view, but disapointing action.
I think our visitors are leaving today, fed up with the weather they are going home early. I think they are off to Eden project first.
Not much else on here, Managed not to spend too heavily this week...
CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all,
enjoying a week off - have done nothing in the way of University work (with 7 weeks to go till dissertation due in & end of year/course!). It's been lovely. Chance to chill, a sociable family-oriented Easter and just pottering at home.
Went to my first bellydance class Tuesday evening - despite being somewhat elephant-like I did enjoy it & I'm off to see if I can find a jangly belt today so I can practice at home lots!
PenPen, the first two items on my "to-do" list for today will be the same as yours!!! My oldest DD is 17 tomorrow eeek!!
N9eav, sorry to hear the weather has been horrible down there (it's been lovely here...) and that your chicken-hatching hasn't been going so well this year.
So today is
Make DD birthday card
Make & ice birthday cake
Sweep lounge/kitchen
Hoover hall/stairs/landing
Mop kitchen floor
Unload/reload DW
Tidy rest of kitchen
Iron my clean washing
Outside tap has decided it would rather keep running a bit despite tap being turned off, so I have to keep turning the water off at the mains except every now & then to let toilet cisterns refill, do jugs of water for kettle, etc. Have texted my brother to see if he is able to look but he doesn't answer - as always. Aargh. Means I will have to call a plumber..
Not really kept up this week but ((((((hugs))))) to all those having tough times or needing one & belated birthday wishes to anyone I've missed!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Morning!
Yes I am sitting here with a coffee, kids still haven't got up so it's bliss, hubby at work, weather is pants, have let the chickens out and put the bread in the oven to bake. Checked my plants in the greenhouse that are coming through nicely.
I'm going to bake today and maybe will head off to Lidl as they seem to have a few offers on at the mo (Charmin on offer again)
Have a great day!Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
Morning all,
Looks like its going to be a nice day here, I have a white load in the wm, which I will get out on the line before work.
I am not sure what is for tea, something with chips, but it may have been the sausages we ate on monday, so i may have to dash off to the shop later to buy something, if there is nothing suitable in the freeezer.
My dear mum popped over yesterday with some ys bargains she had found me :T, a huge piece of pork, which will do the three of us several meals for £4, and two lots of two organic free range chicken legs reduced to £1, so the freezer is looking good, and I have a sainsbugs delivery coming tonight.
A quick swish and swipe this morning anf then off to work.
Halight, hope all is ok, big hugs xx
Have good days all xx0 -
A days holiday from work ..got to lie in until 7am --normally up and doing by 6am,
Replanting seeds is on the agenda today as my bright idea of zapping the litttle aphids that appeared on my seedlings with ordinary household flykiller has backfired big time...it zapped the aphids and killed the plants off too! Damnation! Thought I'd be saving the pennies :rotfl:
Today is the day for the monster pile of ironing and spring cleaning the bathroom and all those little jobs that always get put on the backburner.
If I;m feeling strong, I might even tackle the gloryhole under the sink.
Have a good day everyone!0 -
Morning all
Work today. Woke up early so have just had scrambled eggs on toast for brekkie. I am hoping it will stop me picking at biccies in work, but I bet it doesn't  DH brought a dozen free range eggs the other day from his travels, already had some in the fridge so am trying to use them up. Omelette and chips for dinner tomorrow I think
Leaving work early today so I can get home to cook dinner and eat by 5pm as I can't have anything else after that as I have a blood test tomorrow morning. Not going to be easy. I love a cuppa and a biscuit around 8pm-ish. DH will probably sit there winding me up though.
Just saw on the news that Clement Freud has died. He always made me chuckle in the dog food advert sitting next to the bloodhound and both looking like each other :rotfl:

Good Morning All
Weather is miserable as well N9eav hasnt been that great apart from 1 day. Oh well hopefully it means we will have a fantastic summer.
Feeling a bit low today, think its because I havnt had hardly any time on my own recently I really need to have the house to myself regularly to get things sorted in my head iykwim.
Anyway today we are going to see 17 again at the pictures with vouchers we got for Xmas. Not my sort of film but hopefully will enjoy it. We are going to the Odeon at Lakeside & will treat ourselves to dinner at the Harvester for £4.99 from Martins email. So no cooking today.
Washing tidying up and a little swish here and there are the only os things to be done today.
Have a great day.
x
Edited to say - Sunnygirl - would you mind posting your barbeque chicken recipe?
Also treated myself to a couple of things from Emma Bridgewater online yesterday - shouldnt have but still had a little birthday money left - some polka dot cards & a teatowel that says - had a lovely dream about Daniel Craig last night....lol will make me smile when I am drying up but dont think that OH will be too impressed!0 -
Morning peeps
the weather is horrible today, dull cold wet and windy. I shall venture out with the houndies before my shower otherwise my hair will be responsible for scaring small children afterwards
Today i need to do a bit more ironing and generally tidy up before a long shift at w*rk, i need to prepare the food for later so that DH can reheat it later and i can take some with me. I`m fast becoming obsessed with hatchlings on facebook - why i have no ideai shall have a quick check for more eggs before popping down the garden to the greenhouse.
Have a good day everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all
Damp & drizzly here again today, the WM is full of washing & it loks like the sun is breaking through, so I'll hang it on the line in a sec.o
Hubby's been dropped off at work, the lodger & the fish have been feb & the lodgers been out & is now snoring away, I'll take her for a longer walk later as DD is coming over & we can walk kids & dog together.
I plan to finish the 2nd bedroom today, sorting & clearing & then on to the 3rd one, I won't get much done on it, but it will be a start. I shall vacuum through yet again as the lodger sheds a lot.
Breakfast - bacon butties for hubby, cornflakes for me
Lunch - sarnies
Tea - shepherds pie
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester
